Open Bar PP Pricing

Ang, on March 30, 2017 at 11:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 40

Hello all, just a quick inquiry for you all hosting an open bar. I have no frame of reference for this so I was just wondering, if you don't mind sharing: what is your per person price for open bar?

I'm basically trying to determine if the pricing one of our potential venues has given us is average. $27/pp for 3.5 hrs or $29/pp for 4 hrs.

It depends a lot on where you are, but I've seen places with $10-$15 per hour, so those seem like good prices to me. Are you having a full bar or beer/wine?

May want to put your location in your post.

All the venues I've visited in Philly were PP for food and alcohol combined. We are paying $140/PP open bar for cocktail hour and reception plus food during cocktail hour and sit down dinner( plus our wedding cake)

I am just north of Boston.

We haven't come to a concrete decision about that yet. But the prices I listed above are for a full bar. The other venue we are considering is billed by consumption versus a per person price so I don't know whether it's a good price or not.

My venue only offers consumption so we'll be paying $12 per cocktail and $8 per beer. I would gladly take the price you mentioned for 4 hours. I'll be spending that every 20 minutes.

Charleston wedding. Beer and wine for 5 hours for me is $14.75 pp. That does not include the bartenders or tax/service fees. Bartenders are $175 per bartender and I think I'm having 4 (need to double check that lol). For my guest count that adds about $4 per person before tax.

@JJ how many guests? Do you mind sharing the cost you've come to for the alcohol you have to provide?

@Ang, I'm in MA. Our open bar cost is $29/pp, for the duration of the wedding. Taking the chance on a consumption bar is dicey! It depends so much on your crowd and how many guests. My sisters consumption based open bar cost her 10 grand!

We're 28 pp for well liquor for 5 hours. Our service is added to that at 22% and then tax on entire amount is 9.5%

I'm not sure bc my package comes with the beer, wine and soda bar. I know to upgrade to silver bar it was an extra 8pp++ or 15pp++ for their premium bar.

Our fully hosted premium open bar is $48/pp for 4.5 hours. Cocktails are about $12 and wine is minimum $40/bottle so it just made sense to do the full open bar. I'd rather not have to worry about people spilling or drinking more than I anticipate

@Katelina if I got a $10k bar bill at the end of the night I'm pretty sure I would just drop dead. lol.

Sounds like it's in line with averages for the most part.

Consumption *sounds* appealing because for the most part my crowd is older and slower on their drinking game, and there a lot who don't drink at all, but taking a risk like that is also terrifying.

$26/person, "deluxe" bar which is their "just below top-shelf" option. Includes bartenders, two separate bars, champagne toast and all glassware. 5 hours.

That sounds average. For 4 hours I think ours is 32

Which includes 2 separate bars and multiple bartenders

@Ang, echoing others' calls to specify your location. My cost pp including food and open bar is $230, though I'm in the most expensive city in the country.

Our open bar was $40/pp - it included top shelf booze for cocktail hour, four hours for the reception, wine service during dinner and a champagne toast.
