How would I break down the timeline. I feel like there is not enough time for everything. Intros, dances, toasts, dinner, cake cutting, garter and bouquet toss, pictures, dancing... How do I cram all this into such a small amount of time. Anyone else have this much time for their wedding day? Can...

Thanks in Advance : )

Marlina, check out A Practical Wedding. They have some spreadsheets to download that helps with the timeline. :-)

Ours was 5 hours and went like this:

    5-5:30 Ceremony

    5:30-6:25 Cocktail hour/photos

6:30 Intros, followed immediately by first dance/father daughter dance/mother son dance,

    6:50 Dinner served

Toasts were given while people ate.

7:15-7:50 people ate and we walked around to say hi to everyone.

    8pm cake cutting

    8:05 bouquet/garter etc

then as soon as we were done with those, DJ pumped up the music and we partied til 10pm when we did our exit.

We also invited everyone to a bar for an after party Smiley smile

Cut ur cake while pple are finishing eating since the head table usually gets fed first meaning u will be done before everyone else finishes

Do most pictures before the ceremony and skip the cocktail hour or make it a half hour. Keep spotlight dances to 2-3 minutes each and try to pair them up (you & dad, him & mom at the same time) or do them in between courses.

    3-4 : pictures

    4-430: ceremony

    430-5: cocktail/pictures

5-630: dinner and spotlight dances, maybe cake cutting

    630-9: dancing, bouquet toss, garter

I don't have a time line and I only have 4 hours, I do have an order of events and know that I want to be done with all the important stuff at least an hour before reception ends so we can just have fun and relax but I think 5 hours will be plenty and not rushed, your venue should know the typical time allotments for things running smoothly

Celia is correct - it's up to YOU to make sure that everything starts on time. If you start on time, everything else will fall into place. Your timeline looks fine to me.

I wish you all the best!

I am having the appetizer course brought out right away so we can get the dances/speeches out of the way right away...of course I haven't discussed this with FH. As far as receiving line, after the MOH and BM give their speeches, we are going to do a quick thank you to everyone on the mike and tell the mc to play a really fun song to start the dancing...I too want a PARTY!!!!
