Has anyone used a registry site to get money donations? I found one that only takes 1%. (wishing well) Are these sites worth it? Has anyone used wishing well or another option they suggest? I understand some think its tacky. I don't need an opinion on that thanks.

I see no difference in in a Honeyfund or a gift registry. Why is it ok for people to ask for specific gifts but not money? My friends did a Honeyfund account for a honeymoon to Australia. You could put money towards a specific experience. My FH and I paid for them to go zip lining and they sent us a video of them doing it and thanking us for the gift. Yes I realize it all goes into one large pot but who cares. Maybe something is cheaper than expected an then you can use that money for something else. I would much rather know that my money is going to something fun that they actually want rather than giving a check to something that will be named later.

But...that is exactly what you are doing. The website takes a chunk of the funds you paid and then cuts the couple a check for the rest. (Well, a virtual check. I think some use paypal or bank transfers.)

    Full stop.

Re-read what you wrote: "to get money donations."

Re-think your priorities if you are using words that come up in fundraisers and budget meeting to describe starting a life with your spouse.

Issues of appropriateness aside, I think they are a scam. Why bother using a third party to receive and process your guests cash gifts to you? I would never use one, as a guest or host.

Gosh what I hear in person and on here is so different. Lol some of you guys seriously should chill out. Thanks for the laughs though. I definitely think how defensive people get with their comments is entertaining. We all have our own opinions on the subject. Some things I have read here would also classify as tacky but no need to lecture them on poor choice of words. ........ #ruffledfeathers ??????
