Online Vs mail rsvp

Gracelynn, on September 4, 2019 at 1:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 3 33
What do you guys all think about having replies to wedding invites being on weddingwire Vs traditional mail? We have some older relatives that might not be able to do computer but it's so much cheaper. Any thoughts?

If you’re going to do online RSVPs, I would pick a different website. If you search the forums here, tons of people have had issues with this functionality unfortunately.

I went to a wedding last month. When we received her invitations, we had the option to RSVP online, by mail or text/call. I really liked that idea because you could RSVP whichever way you were comfortable.

That's a good idea! I think this is a great option.

We are sending out traditional RSVP cards with our invitations, but I will also have the online RSVP option available for my guests. We have a mixed crowd, some who are younger and tech savvy, and would prefer the online option. But we also have about half of our guests are older, and less tech savvy, and will prefer the card.

If you watch for the big sales on invitations, you can get ones that include the RSVP card at a really reasonable price. I'm using Ann's Bridal Bargains, but I've also heard great things about VistaPrint, Zazzle, Minted and Shutterfly. They all have great sales periodically throughout the year.

Yes! I totally stole the idea from her for our invitations. It had the same options as if you were mailing it in. She wanted us to text our names and if we were attending or declining, our food option and what song would get us to dance.

We did both. Each guest got an addressed & stamped RSVP card, then also the option to do it online. 75% used the cards, 15% used online.

We did both. I am using theknot. I actually log the names into the RSVP so they are all in one spot. FH usually reviews the list every few days to see who’s left, & who said yes/no.

We had mail in options and online options. Maybe 4/120 guests used the online option.

I sent RSVP cards out the older generation that is less tech savvy & sent everyone else our wedding website to RSVP on there. Our site is through theKnot.com

Doing both would be a great way to meet in the middle!

I did both, most of my guest didn't even bother to do either and told me they were coming smh. I used the knot to do my online RSVPs which I have not had any issues with so far

We are doing both. On the RSVP card, we mention the website, and for the handful of folks we feel are "technologically challenged" we are including an envelope and stamp.

We did online only and had no issues. Even my 85 year old grandma who has a flip phone that she keeps turned off unless she has to call someone had no problems RSVPing on our website haha.

I didn’t get RSVP cards. I put on the back of the invitations to RSVP online at zola.com, or email me, or call/text me. I’m hoping most people will do the online option. Generally speaking, we have a pretty tech savvy guest list. I’m hoping I don’t get too many calls or texts.

I was wondering about this as well. I want to save on postage stamps.

I’m stuck on what to do for this as well. I was originally going to have mail in RSVP cards but now I’m considering doing online RSVPs for money savings and to save paper. Afraid the older guests will think it’s tacky, though. It’s just so easy to do everything online nowadays...like managing the food reservations.

We are doing online RSVPs. There's a handful of people who might have issues and they can call us to RSVP. I'll add that in 2020, the whole age thing is no longer relevant IMO. FH's great aunt is over 80 yrs old and runs a blog, etc. I think it's a choice at this point to not know how to fill out a form online.

I did the exact same thing! I used Zola.com's wedding website and it wasn't a disaster however it came with a handful of problems including not giving a confirmation to people letting them know that they successfully rsvp'd and then I'd find out months later that they "thought they did through the website weeks ago" or "have completed it 5x now and not sure what's going on". I'll be providing lots of feedback to the site. I still had a handful of people through regular mail not return their card, I've got no idea if they are coming.
