Online rsvp wording help!

Summerbride77, on January 5, 2019 at 1:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

So we sent out Save the Dates in September. We included our wedding website and have already gotten several RSVPs! Here's the thing when we sent out STDs we hadn't finalized what we were going to do about plus ones and we had two people RSVP with a plus one whose STD was addressed only to them (no big deal these were people who were going to get a plus one and now I have the added advantage of having their SO's full name).

But now I am worried that the wording on our online RSVP form is too open... we're the first to get married among most of our friend group/cousins so knowledge of wedding etiquette is not necessarily well known.

We've been very liberal will plus-ones so I'm not looking for advice on who should or shouldn't get one, just on the wording of my RSVP.

I agree that the online RSVP is way too open-ended. Especially if your friend group isn't too wedding savvy yet. If you can, change the wording to only suggest 1 additional plus 1?

also, will your online RSVP system allow you to group RSVPs together? Mine let me add a plus one to someone (and either connect guests together or leave it blank). When the person RSVP'd the other person also popped up, so they could individually say if they were attending or not.

Thank you! I feel less crazy now for being worried.

Our online RSVP system isn't the best as it is, we chose Wix because we liked the templates / the fact who could edit the HTML directory (FH is a programmer and I work in online media)..... kinda wishing we had gone with a wedding specific hosting platform right now... oh well.

Just talked to FH about building the functionality you described into the site. He's gonna look into it Smiley laugh

In the meantime, I'm going to keep working on the wording

No problem, glad I could give you a possible solution! I considered Wix, but haven't dabbled in HTML since high school and didn't know enough then to make it worth the trouble. I was just decent at modifying preexisting templates.

    Either way, good luck!

I like the update! It's much clearer. And I like the "plus" in your wedding URL! ♥️ I've been thinking about a Wix website, too. They seem a bit more customizable than your run-of-the-mill sure. I think you made a good choice!
