Online rsvp vs traditional

Brittany, on April 2, 2018 at 6:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 39
Hey guys! How many of you utilized the online RSVP option over traditional? Was it challenging to get everyone on board? I’m worried about older relatives who are used to the traditional aspect of mailing in RSVP’s. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated!

We offered both options and still provided stamped envelopes. Only one person has RSVP'd online.

We only offered an online RSVP. We had issues with our WW website so people who couldn’t get it to work just texted us and we put in the information ourselves. If you can find a site that isn’t so finicky, I’d say online is the way to go.

I opted for online only and it doesn't really seem to be a problem. The older people just tell me (and I already have an idea who would so it's also easy just to call and verify) and input it manually. I personally think it's just a waste to spend extra on rsvp cards AND stamps. Most of the time ppl don't even send them back which is a waste. Or they try to rsvp twice (it can possibly get some guests confused). But that's personal choice and opinion. You know your guest list best! Smiley smile

I’m going with traditional because I love getting mail! I know, sounds crazy. But I’m actually looking forward to checking the mail and waiting for them to come in.

I did online and also offered to let people rsvp by telephone. I don't think I have any guests who aren't internet savy

We did online only and we had no issue at all. Everyone was able to RSVP just fine. I honestly think it was WAY easier and more convenient to do online RSVPs rather than mailing them. I loved it! And it was so much fun getting a new email alerting me someone RSVPed! :-) Plus, it cuts out any confusion on who exactly is invited to the wedding since all the guests names are in the system already. People can't just randomly add plus ones or include people who weren't invited.

We had 3 options layed out on our RSVP: Respond online, email, or complete card and mail it back.

Every invitation included a preaddressed RSVP envelope, but only a few envelopes had stamps. The RSVP envelope is stamped for grandparents & guests that did not have an email address or that we figure may not be great with technology. It saved us $40 not adding a stamp to every RSVP envelope! So far it's worked great and have started receiving online RSVPs (we have Zola).

I plan on offering both. Usually the older the guest, the more inclined they'll be to respond traditionally, and vice versa for younger guests

I think people who offer both traditional stamped RSVPs and online ones, their guests send back the traditional ones. I'm not even offering traditional ones, but I will provide my phone number for our older guests who aren't tech savvy. I haven't decided if I'll just give my number to everyone though.

We have a website that can do RSVPs online.

We are still sending a RSVP card with our invitation. Some people RSVP'd on the site already.

We have a good mix of age groups but I think we will go traditional. FH isn't tech savvy and I remember when my cousin got married and her and her DH did online only, my grandmother had a fit, hahaha.

We sent out addressed paper RSVPs to all guests over 40 and everyone under 40 received an insert with the invite asking them to RSVP online via WeddingWire. In our invites we also included our cell numbers in case they wanted to RSVP that way. I was originally told by some relatives that they wouldn't accept an online invite, but some of these same relatives actually RSVP'd on our website before they mailed in the paper RSVP and several individuals who received the paper invites, never provided them back to me. Some of them RSVP'd online and several of them we had to contact personally. We had better response times with our online RSVPs and excluding my cousins, the online recipients were also more responsive (we didn't have to follow-up with as many of them).

We did online only and didn’t have any problems. Those who did not want to rsvp online called me to rsvp them.

I did both. The WW RSVP has moments when it doesn't work but I just use my phone to enter the info when that happens. The mobile app is pretty good, especially when I have no computer access.

I'm doing traditional (I have invited a lot of older guests who aren't as familiar with the internet) to save everyone (besides me lol) a headache!

You guys are wonderful!! Thank y’all so much for helping us make pur decision. We had thought online would be the way to go, but we haven’t been to a wedding where it was used, and wanted honest reviews. I can can always count on the WW community to come in clutch!

So I did both! I had an online RSVP option and then the mail-in RSVP with a pre-stamped, pre-addressed envelope. I literally made it as easy as possible.

Only 2 people used the online RSVP, everyone else mailed theirs in. 1 week AFTER the RSVP by date, I still had to chase 28 households down *face palm*
