Online rsvp vs Mail rsvp

Veronica, on April 25, 2020 at 7:06 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 29
Not engaged yet but my boyfriend and I have started talking about future plans. There have been recent weddings with online rsvps that I/we attended, and I'm torn between online and mail rsvps. I've gotten conflicting opinions on the topic. My grandma thinks online rsvps are great and my future mil thinks that its tacky. Thoughts on how you decided? Pros and cons to both?

We are doing online rsvp. I strongly considered the idea of having guests mail back their rsvps but we would’ve spent over $200 on stamps (for save the dates, invites and rsvp’s) which I thought was absolutely ridiculous. My grandmother and some family members on her side are more old fashioned and may think online RSVPs are tacky, but I don’t really care what their opinion is 😂 Most people are tech savvy enough to figure out how to type in a website and rsvp. I know when I’ve had the option to rsvp online I tend to do that much quicker than mailing something back. Idk why!

I did both. Online for younger and more tech savvy people but paper invites for older folk

We did mail RSVPs but then we had to postpone (bc COVID-19) so we’re having guests RSVP online this time four our new date...bc you’re right. The price for stamps is ridiculous lol

We did online only. The woman who did my invitations said most brides are doing online nowadays.

Meh, I did online. I wasn’t wasting money on stamps and an additional invitation piece.

We did mail rsvps with an option to rsvp online and only a handful of ppl used the online rsvp and none of them were the younger crowd that I expected would.

We are going to do online, but also add that they can call us to RSVP as well. That’s really just for my grandpa and great aunt & uncle who probably won’t do online. Of course it helps that we are only inviting 38 people so very manageable even if all call us to RSVP.

I would wait to get engaged first before thinking that far?

We did online RSVPs and loved it. Saved paper and money. Was easier for us and for our guests. I literally see no downside, except for maybe older guests not knowing how to do it. But we included our phone number to call “if you have trouble with the website.” But even my 90 year old great uncle managed to figure out the website so 🤷🏻‍♀️

We did an online RSVP for ours (we’ve since had to postpone) and almost no one understood that they actually had to go online and respond when the directions and website were in our invite lol. We got a lot of texts asking where the response card was or people just RSVPing through text! Maybe our instructions weren’t clear enough though 😅 I do have to say that I personally think that online RSVP is a lot easier and saves money —but you’ll probably have a few guests that will be confused

I'm just getting ideas and feed back, but it's definitely more of a when than an if.

We included a details card that said “for more information about our wedding and to RSVP online go to...” for all of our guests. I included a physical RSVP card only for those I thought might not want to do it online and/or that I thought might find it poor etiquette to only do it online.

We did both online and mail in for ours. We have our guests the option for both bc our millennial guests were most likely not going to mail their RSVP’s back in and we didn’t want to have to end up following up with them and our older guests were likely not going to understand the concept of RSVP online. We had a terrific turnaround by our RSVP date and only had to follow up with like 3 guests out of 73,

Online all the way. Mail in RSVPs are far less convenient for everyone involved and doing RSVPs online saves money and time because if you use a wedding website with an RSVP feature everything will be pre-organized for you. I hate mailing things or waiting for things in the mail. I literally have no "pros" for doing the mail version - its slower, more expensive, and more tedious to manage.

Torn between these as well. We will probably do both because we have other events we need RSVPs for as well.

We have a lot of "old school" invitees for our wedding, and we're only inviting closest relatives and each of our best friend. Since it's such a small event and I'm not wanting the older relatives to have issues, I am sending paper rsvps. It's not tacky either way. Just do what works best for you 🙂 i enjoy having the paper in my hand lol

    Hmmm. That’s unnecessarily snarky.
My fiancé and I had a deposit on our venue before getting engaged. She’s allowed to be excited and plan things and this I’m sure would get figured into her budget which is important.
