Old Hollywood Theme Ideas

Just had to say I completely agree that Gatsby and weddings shouldn't go together. I cringe every time I see that. Don't even get me started on Bonnie and Clyde themes either, lol. Anyway, I think tall centerpieces with draping pearls would be beautiful.

As a fellow English major i lol-ed at your Gatsby comment--so freakin' true!! i would check out Offbeat Bride for some ideas, their Offbeat Wedding section is all indexed by theme and they profile a good range of real-life weddings with some seriously inspirational stuff (also some amazingly wild and wonderful stuff too, which is fun to look at)

I would do lots of gold and sparkle and have a simple color palette. Black, white & gold would be beautiful.

I like the first photo photo posted by the first commenter. White a clean looking. Draping decorations. I also like the idea of subtly incorporating pearls throughout the decorations.
I agree about not doing the Gatsby theme. I actually read a great article about that recently so it’s fresh on my mind!

Yes! I was thinking black and gold too, with simple white flowers. My doc also suggested incorporating lamps into the centerpieces since a lot of restaurants/clubs of that era had them on the table and I also love that idea. I definitely would like to use pearls somehow and maybe feathers, but very subtly.
