Hi everyone, new to the forums! I'm attending an evening wedding this month with ceremony starting at 5:30pm, reception to follow. I'm planning to wear a long, black chiffon dress with halter neckline but have read loads of conflicting opinions about whether this is okay. When I bought the dress, I did hesitate for a moment knowing that I might be committing some kind of faux pas with a long dress/black dress but decided to go for it. Personally, I think the dress is elegant and stylish without being loud bc of the color, but I'd love to know what you all think.

To give you some context, the wedding will be at a nice country club in the Los Angeles area. Thanks, ladies!!

Thank you all for the responses! So so helpful. I think I'm gonna try to rock the dress but tie in some colorful accessories like a few of you suggested. Smiley smile

Brady, you asked whether the bride is young - yes she is and I'm not sure how traditional she is.

Laura, don't know the wedding colors, unfortunately Smiley sad

Samantha, the wedding will be cocktail attire.

And for EricaTX (and everyone else!), I couldn't find an image of the exact dress but the attached has a similar neckline. The only difference is that my dress has a standard full skirt with a single layer of chiffon rather than the open front/tiered thing going on in the image.

In my circles, it's rare NOT to wear a black dress.
