Ok how do I not cry walking down the aisle?

Victoria , on September 26, 2017 at 1:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 38

We are 12 days out and finalizing songs. We are not doing the traditional wedding march and instead having an instrumental song play. Im sitting here listening to it and I am totally crying my eyeballs out thinking about everything. How on earth am I going to walk down the aisle and not cry? Can this be done?!

Are you trying to prevent natural emotions? I think let things be as they are meant to be. This is an odd post lol there's nothing wrong with tears of joy

Hey Date Twin! We are 10 days out Smiley smile I have decided that if I cry I will cry. Letting it out is ok, they will be happy tears. The underwear suggestion from @H is funny too.

I bawled down the aisle during my first wedding - got snot caught in my veil and everything! It had more to do with what my dad said to me just before, "this is the hardest thing I've ever done". During my second wedding I couldn't stop giggling because once again dad got me with, "this is the last time I've giving your butt away"! LOL I had an absolute wonderful relationship with my dad and he was a funny guy - always knew just what to say. I miss him so much!

Sorry OP, the only advice I can give is to maybe do a first look to get some of the nerves out.

My dad told me jokes the whole way (and it was a damn long walk like 30 yards or more?) so I was smiling and laughing which made for great pics of my dad and I. I did start to tear when I saw DH but that was literally the last 20 feet of the walk. Tears are totally okay (DH was tearing too).

The day of your wedding you will have so many things on your mind that you'll probably be surprisingly calm. If you cry, that's completely fine!

Think about how much you spent on the photographer and your MUA....

Although those thoughts may make you shed tears for a different reason.

I fully anticipated to be a bawling mess, but I got so swept up in the flurry of getting ready that I actually felt pretty steady. I teared up a bit, but I was mostly focused on making it to DH without falling over lol. Be easy with yourself; if you cry, it's okay! Don't try to force yourself not to. And if you have something to focus on to keep you grounded, that could be helpful.

I didn't expect to cry, but I did tear up a little walking down the aisle. I just kept my eyes on H -- I knew if I looked around at all our guests it would make me nervous and I'd lose it!

Its not a weird question! Id like to be able to see everyone and keep my make up from running while also keeping both contacts in since previously one fell out and left me one eyed Willie!

I love the underwear idea! My dad is no longer with us and my brother will be walking me down the aisle and I will be a little ball of emotions.

    @FutureMrsBurroughs date buddy!!!!!

I am sure I will cry, buuuut also trying not to ugly cry. I spent a lot of damn money on makeup and pictures!

I cried each time I listened to the song I planned to walk down the aisle to, but I was all smiles walking down the aisle the day of. My eyes watered slightly, but it was just so exciting! And my grandmother died a few days before my wedding. You've got this.

I think it's a legit question and concern. I hope to not cry but if I do, I do! Just think about something else I guess is my only advice.

I lost it saying my vows and giving a speech. It's hilarious now. I don't think there's a way to stop it tho!

I'm fairly positive I'll cry. My brother is walking me down the aisle and I've already told him to have some jokes ready in case I start to bawl.

We're doing a first look, so hopefully that keeps the sobbing to a minimum.

I hung out with H all day anyway, and still cried my pants off walking down the aisle. it was less about him and more about just being totally overwhelmed seeing all our friends and family there for us. my advice would be just lean into it. Smiley winking i also told my amazing HMUA that i expected to bawl and she used some nuclear-strength eye makeup as a result.

I totally just told my friend the other day that I need to spend the next year listening to the songs we picked so I don't cry my eyes out. The music starts and the eyes start welling up!

Here's to hoping we both make it through :p

I feel the same way! I have chosen an absolutely beautiful piece of music to walk down the aisle to. I listen to it regularly to pick the exact time that I want to start walking down the aisle and I cry everytime I think about looking at FH I'm walking towards him. No matter what, make sure you have waterproof mascara on. LOL
