My mom told me that the Judge does it for free so I called to have the wadsworth judge do it for me, but the secretary said he doesn't typically do Saturdays and would not know his schedule this far in advance so I have to call again closer to my wedding date.

From what I can tell, Rebecca, your mom is right! The Medina County Common Pleas Court website says that "A licensed minister of any religious society within the State of Ohio, the Judge of Wadsworth or Medina Municipal courts, or the Mayors of Medina County cities or villages" can perform the ceremonies. I know in some other states and counties, priests or other officiants won't ask for payment, but they might ask for a donation to their church or another place.

Where would you be getting married in Ohio? At the court house or another venue?

We got extremely lucky with our officiant. My fiancé has been going on mission trips to serve in different parts of the world since he was in high school. One of the men that has always led these trips and become a mentor for my fiancé is going to perform the ceremony for us. He was very touched when we asked and more than happy to be part of such a big day for us! I really recommend having someone that has played a role in your life if you can! It’s definitely making our day even more sentimental.

Hey Ashlyn!! I thought I'd check in and see how your planning is going these days! Have you decided if you're going to coordinate your own wedding or are you going to hire someone?

Pastor Gus Christo-Baker. He is soooo funny! He's African I believe and has a heavy accent, but we don't have much trouble understanding what he says. He also keep my FH in line Smiley smile He's the pastor at Church of the Cross in Kettering. We didn't know him prior, we just loved the look of this church! Pastor Gus was part of the package deal and we got really lucky with him. He's fantastic!

I’m having my gymnastics coach of 16 years be our officiant! He played such a big part in my life and was a second father/big brother to me, and I want to incorporate him into my big day!

I actually have Persephone, officiating my wedding! I am so freaking excited! She is the best and her name is just amazing. (who doesn't love the story of persephone?! Don't answer that)

She has been so accommodating and even offered to do an early ceremony for less bc my fiance was being deployed which luckily got cancelled and we will be conducting our wedding as planned.

Bless her. She hasnt done my wedding yet but I def recommend her.

The Ohio Wedding Lady! Cathy is so amazing. She really cares that it is special and unique to you. She's ordained and a nondenominational officiant. She's very experienced as well. When we met her we had an instant click! 10/10 would recommend!!
