Officiant using a microphone?

Mrs. DeNigris, on January 11, 2017 at 9:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm trying to decide between two DJ's, and literally the only difference between them is that one has a microphone for the ceremony and the other does not.

Our wedding will have approximately 75-80 people. Do you think the officiant will need the microphone to be heard? Will a microphone be overkill? What do you guys think?

Help a girl out!

(Added a picture of the ceremony space just for good measure.)

Microphones for an outdoor ceremony are a must.

Our DOC, DJ, and several guests recommended it. I'm glad we did.

I would say yes to the microphone. If the microphone is overkill, you can turn the volume down. Nothing is worse than an outside wedding where you can't hear anything.

It's sad not to hear the ceremony. Do the microphone. Beautiful ceremony space!

That was the first question FH asked when we talked to the DJ. The last 3 weddings we have been to there was no microphone for the ceremony or they didn't work and we couldn't hear a thing. I always vote yes, especially outdoors.

Our venue supplies a mic, plus our DJ will also mic the FH with a wireless mic, lastly, the cinematographer will also be applying a mic on FH, this way even if one or two mics experience technical difficulties, we're covered. Maybe overkill, but all bases are covered.
