Officiant Gifts: Any ideas?

Sylvia, on July 29, 2019 at 11:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Aside from my FH and I, the officiants are THEEEE most important people in our wedding. I'm looking for thank you gift ideas. The one caveat is our wedding is in 4 days so we don't have a lot of time. What would you suggest?

Maybe cash or Gift cards are always best that way it won’t just be thrown in a drawer

Gift card to his/her favorite restaurant. There is nothing better than providing a great date night opportunity!

We got ours a wood pen and pen case engraved with something cute about thank you for uniting us in marriage. He's very studious so it'll fit right in....we also plan on gifting a bottle of wine and a very generous cash tip (he isnt charging us, my mom was his secretary until she retired).
I agree with others on the gift card to favorite restaurant...forces them to use the money on themselves 😁

I’m just paying ours her requested rate 🤷🏻‍♀️ She’s awesome, but I don’t think an actual gift is necessary

I would agree! I'm not going to be getting my officiant anything, maybe except an invitation to our reception. That's more than enough in my opinion.

If they are friends, a gift is fine. But if they are professionals, it is insulting to be expected to settle for little gifts from everyone, instead of a proper tip. You do not have to give one. But ask any lawyer or doctor or accountant, how would you feel if everyone paid just their fee, and gave a gift as any extra? You would hear how undesireable that 10 or 50 little random gifts in a month are. Professionals get paid in money or a pay heck, unless they are family or friends doing it for nothing. Someone who has to pay their heating bill and kid's school tuition should be able to use any bonus money. Not get pens and meals out , which may be nice but cannot be used for what they need most. Those are social gifts. Not for a job.
