Officiant budget

iris, on November 16, 2019 at 2:59 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
Okay guys is 500$ way overpriced for an officiant, mind you we are getting married in Monterey Ca. But she did take the time over the phone to go over all details and sounded super organized and gave me peace of mind like everything would just go right. But when I talked to my mom she thought it was ridiculous. I have found others for around 250$ but they just sent me the contact and basically said they would show up. Help idk what to do lol

$300 was the average price I saw for basic officiant services around here (Ohio).

We're doing a bit more personalization, and it'll run around $700-$900.

I think it depends on where you live. Most people I've talked to have said they've paid $200+. My FH and I asked one of our friends to do the ceremony for us b/c he is a notary and in my state you can perform weddings when you're a notary, and he is doing it for free. Even though he isn't charging us, we're going to tip him and get him a gift for doing it.

$500 was average in Napa. Took us forever to find one under $300 but she still chatted with us by phone, sent us the script we could customize, and did a special rose ceremony.

Ours is $550 (Ohio). More than what we had wanted to spend, but we really liked her and felt comfortable with her.

Ours is charging $250, I just called the local Methodist church (FH is methodist) and we found him. He’s incredibly kind sounding too. We’ll be meeting with him as it gets closer.

Everyone responded seems to have higher price tag than where I live. Where I am, the average is $150, and I am already thinking that's expensive since you have to tip them and provide rehearsal dinner as well. I am going to have my friend officiates us instead.

Ours is customized and rehearsal and mileage are additional charges. Altogether roughly 450 in SC.

My officiant is also $500 not including the rehearsal. She was much cheaper than the first one we met with who was $825 not including the rehearsal

Mine is $500 but I love him! He covered all the bases etc. He is doing exactly what I want and more. I'm Catholic and my FH got married in the Catholic church with his first wife but my ex and I went to the courthouse. Since his ex would never follow through with the church annulment process, I talked to my officiant who happens to be a Bishop and he said he would make it as Catholic as can be without crossing the Catholic "line."
