October brides?

Kristina, on May 14, 2020 at 9:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 11
Hi all,
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these crazy times. My fiancé and I are supposed to get married on October 4th, 2020. We have no clue on whether or not we should postpone to October next year or keep this years dates. I live in California and we’re only in phase 2 of opening back up the state. My fear is that I won’t get certain things I need in time for the wedding and/or there will be so many limitations still in October. What are you guys doing? Are you guys still planning on getting married this year or did you postpone?

We're having a stateside reception 9//19/20 in Sacramento and our DW 10/9/20 in Jamaica. We are keeping everything as is until we are forced to cancel. Fortunately all of our planning was done prior to the shutdown and all we've really had to do is continue making payments to our vendors. The big thing I have left is alterations on my dresses.

My wedding is 10/10/2020 and I don't plan on canceling or postponing! I'm from Sacramento, CA but getting married in a rural county about an hour away and inviting about 40 guests. I'm feeling pretty positive that my wedding can still happen. I'm still booking vendors just through online now, I will be designing my invites soon, and still need decor stuff. Stores are starting to open again and that's a good sign. I'm waiting until end of summer if I need to make any drastic changes. And CA needs to be in phase 3 to have weddings so I'm hopeful we will get there soon!

October 10th here. I’m holding out for now! There are days when I want to postpone and just move everything to next year. We’re thinking that if things aren’t looking good by July/August, we’ll postpone. I had a strange interaction with a vendor I was trying to book, which made me question if I should be planning anything at all. When I reached out, they immediately replied with “There might be a second lockdown come fall.” Smiley sad All of the other vendors I’ve contacted have been extremely helpful and optimistic so I think it was just a one-off?
    Best of luck to you!!

Date buddies! My fiancé and I postponed our wedding from May, and couldn’t be happier with our decision. Honestly from what I’ve been reading, hearing, and seeing, I think early October will be just fine for many of us.
They’ve been saying there could be a second lockdown in fall, but we haven’t quite finished this first one, so I’m optimistic things will get better and we will have some time to move forward. The only thing to take into consideration, especially if your vendors are working with you, is the possibility that you will have a smaller guest count. We originally invited 130 people but come October (because I doubt most states will be fully open) we might only be able to invite less than half of that, due to restrictions that might be set in place for a while after this calms down.
Keep in contact with your venue, your other vendors as well, and make sure everyone is on the same page and your venue is keeping you updated on your state’s regulations and restrictions. GIRL WE ARE GETTING MARRIED OCT 4!

October 3rd here in Pennsylvania and our county is still in the Red. We have to go to yellow for gatherings if 25 and then green. Our guest list is right around 30 if everyone can make it. We’re moving forward with plans and are going to reevaluate at the end of summer.

We are October 4th also! So far staying hopeful as we have a guest list on the smaller side (75). However, it's a destination wedding in Nashville and everyone is coming in from several states. Fortunately most people can drive which helps. We are waiting until mid to late summer to decide for sure. It looks like more things are re-opening each week so let's keep our fingers crossed we will both be walking down the aisle on 10/04!
