For brides getting married in July in New York, how are you feeling? We were supposed to get married on May 8th and ended up having to postpone to July 17th. When we postponed in March, July felt so far away and I felt really good about being able to have our wedding but as things continue to get worse I'm starting to get nervous. I read some regions might go back to normalcy (which we didn't even know what normal will be) by June but New York has obviously been hit the hardest. I'm just so emotional about all of this but also trying to remain as optimistic as I can be. My heart is just breaking for all of us brides who have been planning our weddings for so long but also feeling guilty for being sad with everything going on in the world right now. Would love to get your thoughts!

Still scheduled for July 12, 2020 on Long Island, but making a decision around mid May. This was at the advice of our venue. We're trying to be hopeful, but we will have some tough decisions in the coming days.

Where in Long Island are you getting married? We are also waiting until mid-May to make a decision since our venue is still optimistic that summer weddings will be happening. I'm also trying to be realistic and am mentally preparing for the possibility of having to postpone again. Smiley sad Hang it there! Smiley heart

Hang in there, we are suppose to get married on July 25th here in Queens NY, my future in laws suggest that we should get married in Michigan since that's where most of my Fiancés family live and the town they live in wasn't affected as bad, we just may end up doing it. We are making our final decision on mid June. FINGERSS ARE SUPER CROSSED!!!🤞🤞🤞

Hi! I am a CT bride. Our original date was 7/17/20, but we decided to postpone our date until next summer. I am a very optimistic person, so it was a very difficult decision to make. We have immediate family spread out across the country, and a lot of our parents' friends are 65 and older, so we felt that postponing our wedding date is the best option.

Being teachers, summers only work for us, so we decided on 7/24/21. We are planning on keeping our ceremony this summer. We do not know what that's going to look like. We are tossing the idea of eloping or getting married in our church, then taking a trip up to VT or upstate NY for the weekend. However, is that going to be safe?

I am rooting for you both! I hope you can keep your date. Smiley smile

Hi fellow NYC bride!! We actually decided to postpone our date to next year as well. So we've gone from 5/8/20 to 7/17/20 to now 5/7/21. We were debating having the reception in October but we think it might be too soon for our guests to feel comfortable coming to a 200+ wedding. And just like you...we also have family spread out and a lot of our parents' friends are 65+ so it just felt like the best decision! I also want to be able to throw the best party for our family and friends when it's safe to do so! It sucks to have to wait a full year but things happen for a reason so I have to believe everything will work itself out and it will be even better! Good luck to you!!! I keep saying to all the 2020 brides on here that we'll all have to share our wedding photos when our celebrations finally do happen! Smiley heart

Yes, I couldn't agree with you anymore! It was really a hard decision for me to postpone my wedding, but I really care about the safety and well being of all my guests. On the bright side of things, it does give me time to save up more money for our wedding and honeymoon.

I think for mid July it will depend on the size of your guest list. We’re getting married upstate (but it’s Mid-Hudson so not much better restriction-wise) on August 22, our original date was 5/30/20. I’ve been mentally preparing to cut our guest list if we have to, or to rent a tent and just have some BBQ or catering in our backyard. It’s really up in the air but for me it’s been comforting to have backup plans (they give me a sense of control I think?). For us we are getting married in August no matter what - we are in our 30s and it’s just time to get married, and time for kids. At the end of the day I think it all depends on what elements of your big day are most important for you to have. Good luck fellow NY bride! We will get through this! Smiley heart

Wow. We were set to Marry on 4-11-2020. The venue canceled our wedding 30 days prior due to Covid19. We asked about refund but the venue told us they are "open for reschedule, but closed for refund discussion." I couldn't believe it. We had no idea what to do then. Since its 30 days out we had made our final payment and are paid in full.. So, we got married on st pattys day 3-17-2020 at city hall the day before they closed due to pandemic. We were forced to reschedule from a Saturday to a Sunday. That was so messed up. O spent the next 30 days researching and hoping to find information about venues, the phase for opening, ideas to work with, and how to cancel. Broke my heart to see how much limited info existed. I wish you all do not have to go through what we went through.

Daniela, I just found out from my
venue today that weddings are not phase 3 theyre phase 4, regardless of indoor or outdoor. the catering association of ny is trying to push it back to phase 3 but only time will tell. However, We should be in phase 4 by july 7th though if everything goes well. I think you still have plenty of time.

I think this is going to be a really weird/ unique time for gatherings (when they happen/ are able to happen.) I think I'm honestly planning on air high fives or elbow/ butt bumps. Gotta try to make it fun somehow - but I wouldn't be comfortable getting in close proximity to people.

I hope this gets easier for you/ all of us.

I'm in NJ which is pretty much in line with NY.

I totally reworked my July 12 wedding plans which were originally scheduled for April 5.

Instead of the venue I have booked (and paid for) we're having 20 people at a restaurant with a tent out back.

I'm still afraid NJ will go back and impose more restrictions again - we just have to get through the next week!

Best of luck to all you tri-state brides in July and beyond!
