I have a problem. Two weeks ago, DH and I were in our friend's wedding, so my sister watched our 22month old daughter for the weekend. Two weeks ago, DH and I were in our friend's wedding, so my sister watched our 22month old daughter for the weekend. While I was getting ready for the ceremony, I receive a text saying "How mad would you be if I got Leila's ears pierced?" I was so shocked, I didn't even know what to say. We had wanted to get her ears pierced as a baby, but we didn't and I felt I missed the good age and now planned on waiting till she was older and taking her to a REAL piercer, not the mall. I told her this exactly but didn't explicitly say "No". Half an hour later... I get tagged in a photo on fb, of my daughter with pierced ears. But, being the passive person I am, I didn't really say anything about being mad (even though I was livid) because I felt like since I didn't tell her specifically not to do it, it was kind of my fault anyway.

MJ - I am thinking about it. I would really like to know their policy, or if my sister just lied and said she was her mother (which I don't doubt she did). I mean, it's not like they could really prove she wasn't...

Maybe you can get her some pretty little round bandaides and some neosporin and get them on her ears to help them heal up without infection.

Aww that's a great idea, thanks MJ! I was worried about infection even more now, especially with the ear that tore but I will definitely try that.

Since I'm thinking about her so much, thought I'd do a little shameless bragging as well Smiley winking

I'll admit she looked darn cute with the earrings, but she is perfectly beautiful without them as well!

I would take them out and let her get her ears pierced when shes older and asks!

I would have been pissed but you should have spoken up.

Oh my gosh, I HATED working at Claire's and piercing children your daughter's age! Our 'training'?

"Here's this cardboard cut-out of an ear. Try to hit that black dot with this gun."

    Huh?

"Okay, looks great!" (It was off by almost a millimeter...) "Just need to practice on a real person now!"

We got to 'practice' on the customers who rushed us. I never did get over that shaking adrenaline every time someone brought in a toddler.

You did the right thing by letting them close up. You would have had a long LONG fight on your hands waiting for those ears to heal. And your sister should have ONLY supervised visits with her!
