Here's the deal, my FH and I have lived together for 4 years. I'm 30 now, he's 33. So, we are going to my parent's house tomorrow because my dad's side is in my hometown for our family reunion. Here's the deal, my FH and I have lived together for 4 years. I'm 30 now, he's 33.

So, we are going to my parent's house tomorrow because my dad's side is in my hometown for our family reunion. My mom is trying to figure out sleeping arrangements and says basically that my FH can sleep in one room and I can sleep in another.

We've slept in separate beds before at their house because my parents feel uncomfortable with it since we're not married.

IDK, it just always felt weird to me to sleep in a different room than him. I respect my parent's wishes, but feel too old to be sleeping separate like this lol!

So, I thought of just getting a hotel, but then she said my aunt opened her house as well and would be offended because we could just stay with her (but in separate rooms!)

Anyone else deal with this?

Not to mention, if you got to share a room at their house, it would free up a room for someone else.

I dealt with this when I was 18… lol. Seems a little ridiculous? But… I’d always respect my parents and family members wishes. Maybe the hotel is the best idea for you guys, that’s probably what I would do.

That stinks. Surprisingly, as soon as I turned 16, my parents basically stopped caring. FH used to take the bus to our house, and my mom started inviting him to spend the night (on the couch). A year later, he was sleeping in my bed!

I never really spent the night at FH's, but when we were in HS, his parents would not have let us spend the night in the same bed. His sisters were 11 and 9 though, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. Now I don't think they'd have an issue with us sleeping together.
