NWR: Gift for Anniversary Party?

Cindy, on July 15, 2011 at 7:16 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

FH and I are going to my aunt and uncle's surprise 40th anniversary dinner tomorrow night. Should we bring a gift? I wouldn't even know what to get them!

Yes; a gift is important if you have not already spent money on the party for the two of them. If you don't know what to get, a gift certificate to a store that both of them might enjoy, such as Target or Barnes & Noble, is a good idea. Get a card, also! Congratulations on their 40th!

Absolutely! A nice bottle of wine or champagne and card would be great, or something for their home.

I believe you should never go to a celebration empty handed. If the dinner is at a resturant you could always get them a gift certificate for that place. I assume it's one they like. If you had more time I would suggest a nice frame with one of their wedding photos revamped inside. A gift cert. for a nights stay at a local B&B.

Thanks ladies! Will most likely get a bottle of wine since we know they LOVE wine .. or maybe we will donate some money to a charity we know they support!
