Anyone have them or know anything about them? i googled some, but everything said the cause is for the most part unknown and that there isn't really a cure. i did read something that said that they are thought to be caused by a hormonal change. and that HAS to be the case for me..

i got them every once and a while when i was younger, but i've really noticed them in the past few months. and its always right after my period. they hurt SO bad and they always pop up right on the inside of my lips so food hits it every time i chew. they also show up right near the corner of my mouth (on the inside of course) so, once again, when i'm chewing food its constantly irritated. i did get "magic mouthwash" (which is a prescription) from a doctor when i was younger, but it hasn't been helping AT ALL. they are getting worse (i just got 2 in one day.. the last day of my period was sunday) and they are so sore, and getting bigger Smiley sad

does anyone have any tips or advice on how to treat them?! Smiley sad

FH used to get them all the time.. so I researched and there are a few things you can do to help prevent them, though there is no specific cause that is documented. Smiley sad We started a few things add once; #1 switch to SLS free toothpaste (Good call MichaelaSmiley smile the one he likes best is Sensodyne whitening (iso active foaming gel) #2 started taking Vitamin B #3 taking a Probiotic tablet. This has nearly eliminated his w/ out diet change or stress level change. There are these little *Expensive* patches that cushion them (it would be good for wedding/HM if you needed) I will see if I can find the link to them. I do know that soda does irritate them if he has em, but dunno if it causes them to appear. http://sale.dentist.net/products/canker-cover

I got them REALLY bad when I had my braces. Anytime my mouth would get bumped, the inside of my lip would hit the braces and make a tiny sore. This would then turn into the big canker sore. Even today, if I bite my lip (Thankfully it doesn't do it when I bite the side of my jaw-- apparently I have forgotten how to chew gum because I tend to chew my jaw about the same amount. LOL) I end up getting a canker sore. It also happens if I eat chips because they tend to bump my lips as well. I just gargle before bed with salt water (don't rinse afterwards or you're back to sore mouth) and they clear up a lot quicker for me. And yes, stress will also cause them too.
