Nuvaring Help *Updated: I am Certifiable!*

Mr. Bigglesworth, on April 17, 2011 at 12:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

Just started the nuvaring yesterday (which I posted about before) and I'm experiencing mild nausea (randomly throughout the day) and headaches. Anyone else have these side effects? If so, how long did they last?

UPDATE:

I am calling the gyno today to ask for another option. I believe I have lost my mind. This dang ring has made me so angry, moody, a cry baby, and I snap easily. I don't even want to be around me. I read on many forums where this has happened to others. Looks like I need to get off this son of a biatch. Anyone else experience this?

Lol, no I've never had those symptoms. I'm not an expert, but I bet they'll subside within a week or so. I'd call your doctor tomorrow morning though just to see.

Here you go trying to bully me with your nuvaring aGAIN. ;o)

i have not tried it personally -- but i agree with Ashley.... any time you are putting something new in your system, expecially related to hormones / girly stuff, your body has to adjust. i would call the doc to be on the safe side though - just to let them know what is going on.

Thanks girls... and Ashlee I know the only reason you replied is because you fear the kungfu skills of my nuvaring.

I have used the Nuvaring, and loved it, as far as the symptoms, they did only last a few days to about a week for me.

When I used the Nuva Ring, I had no idea it was because of the ring, but I was throwing up a couple days later. Felt sick ALL THE TIME, throwing up a lot, etc. Took the ring out, had my period, put a new ring in, got sick again 2 days after insertion. I went to the doctor both times and they said it was food poisoning. I finally realized the third month that it was the ring causing it. Again, 2 days in, I was throwing up, took it out, felt better within a day. Afterwards, I tried the patch, which I'd used in the past, got sick after 2 days. Went back to the pill, got sick after 2 days. Basically, ever since using the Nuva Ring, hormonal birth controls make me throw up. I also had morning sickness(without the throwing up, but felt very ill) throughout my entire pregnancy all 3 times(1 was an early miscarriage, but I was sick until after I miscarried). My point is, keep an eye on it, remove the ring and call your doctor if it progresses.

I've never tired it put my friend did and she told me that she lost it during sex, like the guy toke it out lol, so make sure it's in the right place in case that happens to you. i'd give it a month cause it takes some time for our body to adjust, if it still doesn't go away then i'd speak to your doctor

That's interesting Natasha, because the pill has always made me very sick which is why I went off of it cold turkey. So this time I decided to try the ring and it's making nauseous, I guess our bodies just hate this stuff huh? I'm hoping I can get use to it because I'd really like it to work out for me!

Everybody's body is going to react differently to different methods of BC but remember anytime you are trying soemthing new, give your body a little time to adjust and if its not tolerable behavior fins somethign else with a different level of hormones

It is common to have some mild nausea, headaches, and fatigue the first few days (up to a couple months) because your body isn't used to the increased hormones.

Don't worry, they should go away in a week or so. Remember that hormonal birth control "tricks" your body into being pregnant so you don't ovulate.

Some tylenol/advil should help with the headache, and eat some saltines and sprite for the nausea!!
