Number of Flower Girls and Ring Bearers

milinovemberbride, on March 20, 2017 at 6:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

So I love children and I've always wanted a bunch of FG and RB but how many is too many? I have two nephews and a family friend's son (we're very close to so he's not a stranger) for my RBs and then my niece and two sister in laws and the same family friend's daughter as my FGs. Is 3 RBs and 4 FGs too many?

I would think anything more than 2 of each would be too many

There was a thread on this recently search forums. The general consensus was that more than 2 of each is too much. Others seemed to think you should have as much as you feel you absolutely need at your wedding. Many even posted photos. At the end of the day, your wedding your rules. Just make sure they are well behaved (lol- manners and age matter) & know the more the messier/louder. Kids will be kids, and this means way more coordination will be needed. Don't do anything that will stress you out more than is necessary.

In my personal opinion, more than 1 of each is too many. But I really dont like kids, so I may be biased lol. Most people will say no more than 2.

Personally, I would keep it simple. I've got one FG and one RB. Was planning on two FGs, but one isn't able to make it. One thing to consider is who's planning to pay for the outfits? If you are, that can add up quickly.

We had 3 RBs and 2 FGs all between the ages of 2 and 7. I'm glad that we didn't have more than 5 mostly because that was really 11 more people we had to coordinate (5 kids plus 3 sets of parents). Also, the more people in your bp the more gifts that need to be bought. I don't regret having the 5 kids though.

Okay so I've decided to take out the older kids and that leaves me with two ring bearers, my twin nephews (I just can't separate them) and my future sister-in-law who is 5 and my niece who is 3. Thanks for the advice!

I'm having 2 ring bearers and a flower girl. One of my nephews is holding a cute sign and the other is holding a pillow. If I had more neices or nephews I'm sure I would have to work them in there somehow so I see what you mean but I am just really glad not to have that problem because more than 2 of each seems chaotic to me.

That was my count (1 rb dropped out due to his autism. His parents don't think he can handle it) but how do you choose? His sister has triplets, my brother has 2 daughters and my godson. The 3 rb was his other nephew. Feelings would have been hurt, family drama, so I just put them all in. Just be realistic. There is going to be an issue with pictures, bored during the ceremony, something, so if you can deal with it, go for it.

We have 3 and 3, all under 6. I love having little kids around us! They may cry, refuse to go down the aisle, do something totally unexpected... I'm okay with that unpredictability. If you are too, then include all the kids! They'll be adorable

Idk man I say you do you and have however many you want. This is one of those things that's so subjective, it'd be dumb to put a limit on it for arbitrary reasons. If you're not okay with a little bit of potential chaos, that might be a reason to limit it. (Personally I think the flower girl crying/refusing to walk down the aisle is kind of hilarious. Oooh kids Smiley smile )
