NOW what?!?! Too many groomsmen

Donna, on August 2, 2013 at 12:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I picked my bridal party or four, asked my FH to choose his groomsmen and best man....he ended up inviting 5....now what? Do I just get another bridesmaid...or what? He just realized he did it....there are 2 groomsmen and 1 bridesmaid whose attire we KNOW we have to pay for completely...

Bridal parties are allowed to be uneven....there is nothing stating that you NEED to have even sides

I dont think its necessary to be even on each side. if there is someone else you really want to ask then i would add a 5th but otherwise uneven is ok.

Ours are uneven too. FH has two more than me.

I was the extra BM in a wedding once. It sucked. I knew I was a space filler and vowed never to do that to someone else.

I think uneven parties are more realistic... I mean, who honestly has the exact same amount of close friends/family members as their FH and vice versa? I am having 5 BMs, and a Brideman (my best guy friend from elementary school), and FH is only have 5 GMs. It is going to be unique and uneven and that is totally fine with us!

We're having an uneven wedding party. NBD.

and if you're worried about pictures, don't be. I love this shot of an uneven party.

We are having 4 BMs and 2 Groomsmen due to some unexpected circumstances. At first I was nervous about it but I think it will be cute to have each guy with 2 girls on his arms Smiley smile

It doesn't have to be even. Ours just strangely worked out that way. I told FH I was having 1 or 5 and he said he wanted 5 so there we go!

Ours is uneven. I'm not adding another BM just to make things even. I have my closest friends...that's all that matters to me Smiley smile

Future Mrs D-YEA! Finally someone with a Bridesman! I have 2 of them! Our WP is 6 on my side (MOH, BM, 2 Bridesmen, 2 Jr BMs), and 7 on his (BM, 4 Groomsmen, 2 Jr Groomsmen).

It's fine. I have two more girls than FH's boys. The boys will be at the ceremony a little earilier, and when we're about to start, they'll stand at the altar with FH and my girls will walk down the aisle on their own, in all of their glory. :-D

I had 6 bridesmaids, while DH had only 3 groomsmen. We would have never dreamed of insisting they be even. That's just silly. Life is hardly ever symmetrical, why artificially make it seem that way?

They don't have to be even. That used to be a big deal now it doesn't matter. It's becoming more common.

We will most likely have an uneven party also. He will prob have 3, I'll have 2.

I have MOH, 2 BM and JrBM. He has BM and one GM - he wants it to be even but I would rather he just have who he wants. I told him I have the most important people in my life standing up with me and he should do the same no matter what the numbers are. And @Tatiana I am with you and would like the girls to walk down on their own too!

Whatever you do, DO NOT throw a bridesmaid in there just to make it even. You might regret it. Life isn't perfect and couples don't have the exact same number of best friends, or family members that they want to be apart of the wedding party. My numbers were going to be the exact same as yours and I was going to have the Best Man and FH walk down the aisle together as buds, so his best man was always by his side, and then start the ceremony with even number of guys and girls.
