Nothing to Plan

Erin, on October 28, 2019 at 10:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

We couldn't get the date and location we wanted for the small (~25 guests) 2020 wedding we had been looking to do, so we've decided to do a full sized wedding with the 75 people we had originally wanted to invite. there is one location in Rocky Mountain National Park that can hold up to 100 people, and two that can hold up to 60 people, andt he permit is $250 no matter how many guests you have. This is still an affordable option, and would get us closer to the wedding we (read: I) had originally wanted. We would save about $6,000 on the venue, expensive catering, and decorations (as you can't have any in the park). It's a really good decision for us, but we can't book the date at the park until a max of a year in advance, so I don't really have any planning I can do until about June 19th. I really want to be doing stuff, and I've tried looking into options for a small reception, but without the date set in stone, there's not much I can do. I'm dying here.

I agree with PP about searching for vendors, cake baker, photographer, maybe with that money your saving you’ll also want to hire a videographer, dress shopping is an option as well ☺️ I found my dress before I even had the venue picked so your definitely farther along then I was lol.

My wedding isn’t until 2021 and I actually found a lot of people who will book for me already. There has been a few that say it’s too far out but many have. I agree go Start researching other places just in case? Also photography, dress, cake, and food! It’s always fun to go taste testing!

I have a dress already, but i hate it and want to go dress shopping again to exchange it but I have to wait till my mom comes back into town, I’m making my own cupcakes so I don’t need a cake baker, and I can’t book anything else until I have the date set in stone, which can’t happen until 1 year in advance because that’s the earliest they will book at the park. We’re trying to spend as little money as possible haha. I’m just kinda feeling a bit blah about it because I was originally planning a whole slew of diy projects I can’t use anymore that would have kept me busy.

I would start looking for Denver area vendors now so you can be prepared to book June 2020. Is there an indoor space at RMNP in case it rains or snows?
