Not the Wedding Gown i ordered 😭help

Emily, on December 17, 2019 at 4:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hi! I am in need of some MAJOR wedding gown advice! Please!!

So I ordered my gown from a LV Bridal Shop 8 months ago and it just arrived! Exciting, right? Sadly, not so much! 😭😭😭😭 When ordering the gown (8 months ago), I wanted to replace the corsette with a zipper and have the cap sleeves removed. I was told that that wouldn't be a problem for the designer to do. The store manager takes my measurements and we place the order. Yesterday I go in for a "meet the gown" appointment and the first thing I notice is that the sleeves are still intact 🙄 The corsette; however, was replaced with a zipper. When asked to try on the dress I of course say, "yes!". Well it didn't fit.....so either I gained weight or her measurements were WAY off. I've actually lost a lot of weight between then and now so my mind is boggled. Furthermore, the gown had HUGE stains underneath the tulle and some small stains on the lace. I compared a picture of me in the gown 8 months ago to a picture of me in it yesterday and the gown 8 months ago is MUCH whiter than yesterday's picture. When placing the order for this gown I made 100% sure that I'd be ordering WHITE not IVORY. Is there anything legal I can do? I am VERY displeased. Is there anything a CC company can do? Unfortunately my Dad paid in full 😩 so I'm not sure if we can anything but the contract that we have with the purchase we never signed 🤷🏼‍♀️ so is there anything I can do with that for leverage? I am going to go again and take another look and do some more comparisons before "attacking" them but I want to go in with better questions, etc.
Thank you all so much in advance!

I don’t think you need to attack them, but did you speak up when you had the dress on about all of the issues that you noticed? I would have been irate if my dress was stained when I went to try it on after it came in.

I was so in shock that I couldn't process any of this until after I left 🤷🏼‍♀️😩🤦🏼‍♀️ I plan on going back in and confronting them 100%. When confronted with the big stain the store manager said that they'd clean it "no problem"; however, when talking about making another appointment the store manager said, "the seamstress will end up cutting that part of the fabric off so we don't need to worry about cleaning it"

I would definitely address it to them. I have been told ivory looks white in photos and white looks dirty and blue in photos. Is there a return policy of any sort or maybe a way you can address that there are stains and their shouldn't be considering its a new dress that was ordered.

I wouldn't freak out until you can talk to your seamstress. I understand that you're upset, they totally should have gotten it right!! But, it does sound like everything is fixable. Taking off sleeves is easy. Hopefully the sizing is doable, and hopefully what they said about cutting off the stain is true. I think you should write a bad review for the dress shop since they didn't meet your expectations, but don't panic yet!!

The label on the dress / tag should tell you if its white or ivory. If its ivory and you ordered white (and white is on your order sheet) then you have a valid reason for a full return just on that point only. That being said i will caution that you probably tried on ivory to begin with. Ivory looks white and photographs white. Of all the bridal shops i went to only 1 had a white dress in stock and it was jarring how almost neon white (like paper) it was. Theres a good chance you had tried ivory and the photos show it lighter- common. The stains are a whole other ball game. Your dress almost sounds like it was preowned. If the store gives you a hard time i would consider calling customer service directly to the designer and speaking with them. Im sure they would want to rectify the situation

    This is spot on.

Also the stains are unacceptable, whether they can be removed or cleaned or not. If you ordered a new dress you should be getting a new dress in new condition.

I really feel for you. Sorry I don't have better advice, but I hope it works out!

If you accepted and left with the dress, you are going to have a harder time arguing with them. However I would definitely check whatever purchase agreement you have and compare it with what you picked up. If they made the error, they have to make it right. I would go back ASAP and speak with the owner, and explain calmly what you bought and what you received. While the zipper/corset problem can usually be fixed by a seamstress, you shouldn’t have to pay for something you already paid for when you bought the dress.
