Not So Great Weddings

Mine are (both were from the same wedding):

1. No microphones. It was outside. I couldn't hear ANYTHING. Literally, could barely hear the ceremony and then couldn't hear the reception speeches at all.

2. They had ONE food truck. For about 100 people. And there was no limit as to what people could order. We waited ONE HOUR in line for our food. ONE HOUR! I was furious and starving. And no, the food was not worth it.

My sisters. I thought it would be amazing because she coordinated a few weddings before which went well. But hers was BORING and I was determined not to have that. It was due to:

    - poor communication (things were not really announced properly and guests were not sure what was going on)

    - MC sucked - could barely hear him speak - he was mumbling like he was in the clubs lol.

I'm lucky in that I haven't been to many bad weddings.

One I went to... the couple took 2 hours to do bridal party pictures after the ceremony. We could all see them from the hall. The hall where we had no booze and just a few cheese and crackers as apps which had been scarfed down 10 mins in.

K Squared takes the cake. Worst one I've heard on this forum I think.

My sister's wedding. They had it at a VFW hall and had it catered by a local deli. They ran out of food before everyone had even been up to the buffet. I thought my father's head was going to explode. They were too cheap to get a photographer so she wore her wedding dress to another sister's wedding two months later and had HER photographer take pictures of them so that she could "have some wedding pictures."

The 2nd sister to get married is a saint and let her do it. She came with me when FH and I booked our venue. She looked at me and said "this is a great place and you certainly won't have to worry about running out of food." They were both married 32 years ago this summer and everyone STILL talks about how sister #1 ran out of food at her wedding.

I went to a very large wedding (400 people). They had about 80 teenagers invited and they took over the dance floor. I had prom flash backs.

I went to a wedding that was in a really cool space (aquarium) but the room for eating dinner/toasts/cake cutting was separated by a door from the room where all the dancing was. It was really frustrating because anytime one of the dance's happened we had to get out of our seats and stand around the edges of the room where the dance floor was. It also created some separation since those who did not want to dance stayed in one room and those who did had to go in the other room. So it all felt very divided. It wasn't terrible and there have definitely been way worse things but it did make me realize I definitely wanted a venue that allowed everyone to be together all night. (we also drove 11 hours and it was a cash bar)

I went to an outdoor wedding in August in SC, so we were melting. It was also a dry wedding at a non-meal time, but for some reason, they decided to have a DJ and a dance floor. Clearly no one danced. They should have used the DJ money for booze.

It's not a huge deal but I'm guess I was just a little confused. Having a theme and not sticking with it. A coworker had a 1920s theme wedding and on the invite it said 1920s dress code optional. Everything about the card was based off of 1920s. At the wedding nobody was dressed like the 1920s and the venue didn't even have a 1920s theme. The brides dress definitely wasn't 1920s either. So I guess I was just a little confused why they put 1920s on the card but didn't incorporate it anywhere else.

I went to a wedding where the ceremony was outside with no chairs except for the elderly and disabled. At least they had an open bar.

Natalie J, it was miserable. It sounded fun in theory but the reality of sitting around all night in torn clothes and heavy latex makeup while everyone else was in normal cocktail gear was just awkward. Plus I was all wilted from the rain.
