Not all super glues are created equally!

Hoping to save you from dealing with the frustration that I have had to deal with. I am making all of my own decorations for my wedding and unfortunately have learned, the hard way, that not all superglues work and are made the same.

I purchased “Loctite” superglue and it worked pretty good but I ran out, so I went to buy more. I end up purchasing a “Scotch” brand superglue... Do not waste your money on purchasing this product. It was awful! It was like trying to make something stick together with water, lol.

I returned the “Scotch” glue and purchased some more “Loctite” superglue. I didn’t read the packaging, I assumed it was the exact same product. I was wrong. The superglue was G E L superglue. Why would you ever want gel superglue is beyond me.

I know this seems like a minor thing to vent about but I am 6 weeks away from my wedding and I really want to finish getting things made without wasting time using superglue that doesn’t work. So I hope by reading my rant, I will save others from dealing with the same aggravation.

The type of glue you use depends on what you’re using it for. The gel super glue is thicker so its easier to control, it doesn’t drip if used on vertical surfaces and because of its added thickness it wont absorb into porous surfaces.

The liquid kind is for non porous surfaces.

I also learned not to get off-brand glue or tape at the Dollar Store. Not worth it.

Thank you for the tips, Tina!

Hopefully, it will save some other couples a DIY heartache!

What are you working on at the moment?

    You’re welcome :-)

I was working on my seating chart (see attached :-), when I had my glue fiasco, lol. As you can tell, it still isn’t completed because I have to go get more superglue - ugh

I was also trying to superglue the twine on my centerpieces (also attached), using gel superglue and it was awful.

    Cliodhna,

    Thanks so much!

I purchased them from Amazon (from Woodlandia). You have to be careful there too, unless you want your slabs to be different sizes. Most come in a range, like between 9-11.” I want mine to be all the same size and the ones that I purchased are all 8 inches. :-)

I am excited... I found the best superglue! 😁

It is thick (and not gel), it is not runny, it glues super fast and it very strong... highly recommend.
