Normal price range for bridesmaid dresses?

SinayMalloy2017, on July 1, 2016 at 10:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

How much is a normal price range for bridesmaid dresses? I don't want my friends to go broke but I don't want Walmart.

The best way to work with everyone's budget is to pick a set of guidelines and let your bridesmaids pick their own dress. My MOH found a gorgeous long blush chiffon gown from a thrift store for $7! It still looked brand new and like someone else had worn it once as a bridesmaid in a wedding then donated it. A normal price range for bridesmaid dresses however is probably around $50 - $200 however, I have seen lower and higher prices.

$99 was my budget for my girls because I didn't want them spending tons of money either. Their dress was originally $140 but because of the sale at David's they got it for $99 plus tax.

Why don't you ask your BMs what their budget is for a dress? I've seen $450 dresses and I've seen $50 dresses so I don't know what "normal" is.

I've been in weddings where the dress was $40-$200. Mine were $150.

$100 or less is usually a good bet that most people can afford. Mine are $80.

I just gave my girls the color of dress, and they can get a dress from wherever they'd like. My cousin was able to find a dress on sale at TJ Maxx for $14.00 and it honestly looks as good as dresses from regular bridal stores. If your bridesmaids are well off and don't mind, then talk to them about getting pricier dresses, but otherwise, try to be understanding and accommodating of financial limitations.

My dresses are $42.50 plus shipping from etsy. I will be having a casual wedding with FH and groomsmen in jeans so I chose Jersey knit infinity dresses. They can wear it how they feel comfortable and it can be worn again. There are some that are chiffon, etc that's just a bit more but still a good inexpensive option. Plus there's no alteration costs associated with the particular listing I chose.

@nicole I have been looking at Etsy for dresses and I am loving some just really hesitant about not seeing the dress in person before asking my girls to get them. But that's just me because I worry about everything. Lol

I made sure they were ok with the price of the dress first. They were $129 at David's Bridal.

I've been in many weddings. I've spent between $99 and $240 before alterations. Personally I'm letting them choose so that they can spend what they like, and hopefully wear the dress again .

I didn't want my girls to have to pay more than $150. My sister bought one for that price. Everyone else is buying preowned & getting them for less than $100

I found a website called Union Station that you could rent bridesmaid dresses for $75 or have the option to purchase.

I was going to have my BMs go there because I felt it was more economical, but they wanted to go shopping! So we all went and they picked out dresses that looked great on them and I liked.

Now I almost regret it because they're $100 plus and I warned them about this exact thing. No one has ordered them yet and I have a feeling it's because no one wants to pay it.

So get a feel on what your BMs are comfortable with paying and then go from there!

I just gave my girls a set of guidelines and they're picking their own dresses that work for their budget. So far the best deal anyone has gotten is my MOH. She got an Adriana Papell beaded gown that's originally $289 for $52 on ebay.

The best idea is to check with each one of them regarding their budget and work work within that.

I think it is nice to stay under $200. I know most people don't like to spend over $150. If you are really worried about it...talk to your girls. My girl's dresses were $189 including tax. I refused to go over $200. However, if I am a bridesmaid, I wouldn't say anything unless the dress is over $300.

Mine were $160 but my mom chipped in $100 for each girl's dress so they only had to pay $60. I wanted to pay for my girls ' dresses in the first place but it wasn't in the budget so I'm grateful my mom did it!

Mine were 80. It was on sale as a prom dress. It's beautiful and in no way looked like a prom dress.

Everyone is different. It's good to sit down with each BM separately and ask what their budget can accommodate. For some people $20 is too much. Some brides on here want $600 dresses for their BM's. If I had to pick an average, based on the 3 weddings I've been in, I'd say I spent $175 on average. Alterations were usually under $30.
