non traditional father/daughter songs

So I'm in need of some different song choices for my father daughter dance, my dad is not a fan of country music so I want to avoid "I Loved Her First" and the likes. He may surprise me but I doubt it lol. I was thinking maybe "landslide" by Fleetwood Mac, that is after all one of our favorite bands...

What are some of the non traditional songs you ladies have in mind?

Following! I'm gonna have a hard time with this one too and I have to find 2 songs!

I really like the "you've got a friend in me" suggestions for my dance with my stepdad - perfect cuz he's always there but has never tried to step on toes or replace my father. Gonna keep that one in mind!

I'm letting my dad pick - I always pictured something by Fleetwood Mac, either "Landslide" or, super nontraditional, but "Sara." He is already working on this and has told me he likes either "There goes my Life" by Kenny Chesney, which is pretty perfect for our situation, or "Life's a Dance" by John Michael Montgomery. I'll be fine with whatever he chooses.

I used Daughter by Loudon Wainwright. It isn't exactly a slow song and it was perfect for us.

I'm doing a song from my favorite band that the guys wrote about their daughters. It's called "Honeybee" by Louden Swain. They're pretty indie so nontraditional in that aspect, it's still a sweet father/daughter song though.

We are also thinking about "Landslide". I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac with my dad, and the song is special to us. I think it works for a wedding in a non-obvious way. Its about growing up. In a popular live version, Stevie dedicates it to her father.

The biggest contender right now is "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon. Its a little more upbeat and kind of a fun, funky song. But it makes us both cry. a lot. lol

My dad & FH hate country too,but most of my family does. sigh.

My dad chose "Only One" by James Taylor for our dance. We used to listen to James Taylor all the time when I was little. The only time I cried at my wedding was when I heard the song start.

Your dad doesn't like country music, but what does he like?? That would help with some suggestions too.

Kenny Loggins album Back to Pooh Corner has a couple songs that would be good for a father/daughter dance. Kenny Loggins is the guy that sang the Foot Loose song.

I think if it is special to the two of you, it doesn't matter if it goes with the wedding theme. My dad and I are dancing to Annie's Song by John Denver because that is one of his all time favorite songs and it has special meaning.

"When you need me" by Bruce Springsteen. I had never heard that song before but found it during similar research for stepfather/daughter songs. When I listened to it I started to ugly cry. FH was so alarmed because I don't really get emotional like that. He said, "is that the song?" I blubbered "yeeesssss".

I think if it's what you want you should do it. I'm having a barn wedding and I'm still struggling on a song too. I don't want to choose a song everyone does.

I *think* I have settled on "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty.

ETA: It's acoustic, pretty sounding, and doesn't seem terrible to dance to.

My dad and I also talked about Landslide but decided on In My Life by the Beatles.
