non traditional father/daughter songs

Waychox3, on March 15, 2016 at 2:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 37

So I'm in need of some different song choices for my father daughter dance, my dad is not a fan of country music so I want to avoid "I Loved Her First" and the likes. He may surprise me but I doubt it lol. I was thinking maybe "landslide" by Fleetwood Mac, that is after all one of our favorite bands but I'm wondering if it works for a wedding. What are some of the non traditional songs you ladies have in mind?

I was considering the same for my dad, we both looovvee Fleetwood Mac, I grew up listening to them with him. I was also wondering how it would fit in with a wedding though :/ I might just go with it anyway because it holds sentimental value to the 2 of us and I think he would like it.

Daughters by John Mayer if you're into him

Over the Raindow by Israel "Iz" Ka?ano?i Kamakawiwo?ole I saw danced to at a wedding this past fall and I liked it

Unfortunately all other songs coming to my head are country lol

Both pops and FH roll their eyes at slow country songs, which kills me because I love them and it is a barn freaking wedding lol

Both my dad and FH hate country. Yet somehow they both preferred Darius Rucker for the father daughter dance. Although I think it has to do more with him being in hootie and the blowfish than the song actually being a country song hahah

I wanted to dance with my dad to the song that makes me think of him: Old Time Rock n Roll. He wanted a slow dance though, and requested Love of My Life by Carly Simon, so that's what we're going to do.

I have a feeling ours will be to Close to You by The Carpenters. But I think that's something I'll leave up to him.

I'm not sure if its untraditional but we are doing "Somewhere over the rainbow" by Iz. The meaning of the song is very important to both of us.

It dosnt help my dad did not want to dance to a love song Smiley tongue

"Lullabye" by Billy Joel. It's such a beautiful song but the language isn't overly sappy.

My Dad picked ours and it's Al Green's "Look what you done for me" not a traditional father daughter dance but the words are really sweet!

I've pictured you've got a friend in me for years even before getting engaged. Michael Buble also does a version. I gave my dad the option for input but so far nothing. And no other songs really get to me like this one for us because I think it's perfect.

My dad and I danced to My Hero by the Foo Fighters. It was an acoustic version.
