Non-dressy shoes/sandals: did anyone do this?

Rachel, on April 12, 2016 at 11:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

Hi guys! I wanted to see if anyone wore less dressy shoes for their wedding. If you have any photos (especially w/your gown on) I'd love to see! Also related: do people even see your shoes if you're wearing a long gown?

I have bad feet, but the Patrizia brand is SO comfy for me. I have a pair of platform wedge sandals from them that I could wear all day. But, I am concerned that the fabrics they use will look too casual with my wedding dress. I'm short and having a ceremony on the grass, so platform wedges are ideal. I haven't had luck so far with finding satin shoes that fit right, but I also haven't tried really hard. I need to make my shoe decision within 2 weeks in time for my first gown fitting!

In the meanwhile, I'll share a pic of my gown and also a pic of the shoes I'm considering:

I am still working on my shoes, but I really like those. Actually they are similar to what I hope to end up with. It depends on how fancy or casual your wedding is, but I think they look nice. I am still waiting on my gown to come in, but in previous weddings I've been in I don't remember seeing the bride's shoes and honestly couldn't tell you what type of shoe they wore.

I wore simple flats I got at Charlotte Russe, except for in getting ready pictures. I had a pair of heels just for pictures. No one saw my flats the whole night. I should have worn flip flops and been more comfortable. If your dress is long, I wouldn't worry about shoes. Unless you want specific shoes for pics, then just use them for the pictures and then be comfortable the rest of the day/night.

Find something that's comfortable but looks good if it peeps out from under the dress. You don't want to wear crocs for example, but I think those shoes would be fine even if they're technically a little under-dressed for the style of gown that you have. It's more important to have something that fits, is comfortable, and that you can wear all day especially if you have bad feet.

Don't worry, no one will notice and the lost important thing is that you are comfortable. Since my dress is tea length I am wearing nice heels for the ceremony but I don't think my feet will take them any longer than that. I just bought nice sandals in Marshall's for $25,they are so sparky and I'm sure I'll use them again.

The first pair of shoes that I bought didn't turn out, so I'm on the hunt for a second pair. Like someone above me said, as long as you won't be embarrassed if they're peeking out from your dress you'll be fine (so maybe skip the bunny slippers, but any fabric ought to be okay).

I think I'm going to go with something that sparkles a little bit--maybe even rhinestone flipflops Smiley smile

I'm not wearing dressy shoes either. I also have bad feet, so it's just not worth it to me. I'd rather be comfortable, and I don't think anyone will see my shoes anyway. These are the sandals I'm wearing.

I'm wearing flats! We will be taking pictures in a Piedmont Park in Atlanta and heels just don't seem practical.

These are mine! I live in flat sandals and although I'd love some killer heels, I know it's not in my best interest haha

I loooovvvveee all your sandals!! I'm not doing sandals, I was going to do cowboy boots, but I'm not a cowboy boot gal and I just hate the clunkiness of them. So, I think I'm forgoing them. I think, right now, I'm wearing my Tieks. They are ultra ultra comfy, flat, and sorta kinda go with my colors (plum/charcoal/tiffany blue)

These are the flats I'm wearing with my dress, since I can't do heels.

I have seen so many different styles of shoes worn with wedding gowns. From fancy heels, to blue flats, to "casual" wedges to sandals. Really you can wear anything. Wear what makes you comfortable. I'm planning on flat silver sandals. I want something cute but comfy. No one will really see your shoes any way. I think what you have will work perfectly.

Sandals that were so comfy I didn't even feel them for the 14 plus hours I wore them, walking, dancing, everything...

You could see them when I sat (Shorty Shorterson)

I have a pair of kitten heel flip flops for the ceremony and a pair of flats for the reception. As pp have stated that unless you want pics of the shoes, then if your dress is floor length, it doesn't matter what style. you wear

I'm wearing coral old navy flip flops, and my bridesmaids are wearing brown old navy flip flops. Everyone knows me to always be in flip flops; so it just seemed logical and comfortable. My bridesmaids were excited to not have to wear uncomfortable heels!

I'm planning to wear the white lace Toms. I own several other pairs of Toms and they're pretty comfy.

I haven't picked my wedding dress yet but I do this with other formal attire-short dresses too-all the time. I wear an 11w, so I have always had to make an effort to find shoes. I have cute leather sandals and flats in all different ranges of metallic colors, and some with beading instead. No one ever looks twice. They really do go well with dressier clothes, and I can walk all over town and dance without hurting.

Following! I got a pair of heels, but I don't think I'll wear them! I also got clingy flip flops, because I live in them! I'm looking for another pair of sandals and maybe some comfy flats
