Non choreographed first dance?

It seems more and more common for the couple to choreograph their first dance. Any of you ladies NOT choreographing? I used to dance, so choreography is second nature to me...FH not so much, so it seems strange and awkward for us to do something like that.

I love this post! OK...so here are from tips. First we are production company, no that is not a plug, but important because we have many friends who are professional performers (it comes with the biz). We go to, and sometimes film, weddings where they sing and dance (some tap dance). Here are my 2 cents from many years in the biz. If you make it about you and fun, then it works. If you make it about some kind of show, then if comes off the wrong way. Also, if you are going to do it. Make sure it is really good and polished. When it is, it is REALLY AWESOME! When it is not you may find it to be slightly embarrassing. Another tip may be to learn choreography and then create a dance yourself. Practice it everyday. My wife and I have a professional performance background and did this. We had a friend of ours who taught at Arthur Murray, teach us a few steps and we choreographed the dance. It came out well, I was nervous so we did our dance right after intros. Have Fun!

No - but I would love to take dance lessons so we could dance to a classic song by Frank Sinatra and look good doing it. However FH doesn't really have great rhythm (don't tell him that - he loves to dance) plus we have no time to do dance lessons with me being a (for the time being) single mom and him coaching HS wrestling after work.

In the end though I got the song I wanted - Is This Love by Bob Marley. So that makes me happy. Smiley smile
