No wedding cake?

Hello everyone! Obviously wedding cakes are a wedding tradition, but neither my FH or I like cake/frosting and we're already dishing out so much $ for the rest of the wedding. What if we just decide to not go with a cake and have cookies instead? Has anyone tried this? Advice please!

We're not having one. We just don't care about cake, lol. We're doing handmade chocolates instead.

I went to a wedding that had doughnuts instead. It was awesome.

We're skipping the cake, but doing a full dessert bar. I think you have to provide more than just cookies for dessert.

I love cake, so we had cake, but we also had pies because my husband prefers pie to cake. We did a small 2-tier formal cake for us to cut (would have done 1-tier, but my mother got upset and I figured it wasn't worth the argument) with an extra sheet cake that was cut up in the back for guests and then two types of pie. It wasn't that expensive, particularly with the spare informal cake.

We had a bakery do ours, but supermarkets and Costco make fantastic cakes in general. I ate a lot of wedding cake when I worked for a catering company in college and Costco and Ukrops cake were probably the best.

I've been to several weddings where they did cupcakes or doughnuts instead, I was happy with all of them. I haven't been to a wedding that had only cookies, but if they're good cookies I don't think it'd be that bad. I agree that it fits in more with a hipster wedding.

If you love cookies and want to keep the cake cutting tradition you could always get one of those giant chocolate chip cookie “cakes”. Then you would have something to cut and feed each other.

No, I think it is fun when people do things other than cake! I also don't care for cake or frosting and we are doing pie lol. Do what you like!

I don't think you need to have cake but I would have something besides just cookies or doughnuts etc. Those aren't really desserts to me, more like a sweet junk food. When I think about desserts, especially at weddings, I picture something plated.

Personally I love seeing the wedding cake, but I'm old and traditional. I've attended 2 weddings without cakes and quite frankly I was under whelmed with both the doughnut wall and dessert tables. That being said, one of my daughter's is doing brownies for her wedding (they don't like cake), and another daughter is doing a 4 tiered cake. I've seen a mock-up of the brownies and it will actually be a spectacular set up. But I'm really excited for the traditional cake. To me cookies, doughnuts, cupcakes, candy tables, and the like are just not fancy enough for a wedding.
