No Sleep :(

FutureMrs.D, on July 6, 2017 at 1:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 33

I am very fortunate in that I most often in my life am a great sleeper. However, it makes it very apparent then when I'm not sleeping well! The day is only 8 days away so I get that I'm stressed/nervous/excited/overwhelmed but I NEED to sleep! What are your secrets? What has helped you? Or should I just suck it up and get over not sleeping for the next 8 days? lol!

Well, it's 1:38am where I am and my wedding is too far away to be stressing me out soooo I am of no help lol. I do like using soothing essential oils like lavender, Valor and Peace & Calming (both by Young Living). Hope you get some sleep! Smiley smile

Lol I would hate to be going through this! I would be so cranky. Have you tried melatonin tablets that help you sleep? They're all natural and helps you doze off quickly! My last resort (sounds awful) but I use Tylenol PM just to knock me out when I absolutely can't turn my mind off one night! You need your rest woman! Just try to relax Smiley smile Btw, congrats on your soon to be wedding!!

I can't sleep either! Haha I am 72 days out though Smiley atonished I was on a bit of a break from wedding planning and got energized again today so I was knocking out some decor stuff and talking cake table ideas with my future SIL Smiley smile Got too excited for my own good lol. I have to be up early to drive into the office (home based employee) for a quarterly meeting so of all night's to get excited for the wedding...ugh. lol. As for your sleeplessness, how about a glass of wine to wind down before bed...or Nyquil? Smiley smile haha Nyquil helps me when I need to really catch some Z's.

I've been dealing with this too. I started taking Midnite before bed and reading until I pass out. I also have been forcing myself to run every day so I'm wiped out and just need to lay down. My date is coming fast and I forsee this getting worse so I'm following this for better advice.

I've used melatonin and Benedryl; I like melatonin better because it's more natural. I've also found that going to bed at the same time each night, working/exercising hard during the day, and putting my phone away before bed really helps me, too. Sometimes tensing every muscle in my body and then focusing on releasing them all helps me relax and feel more ready to sleep. Oh, and it's easier also when my room is cool/borderline-cold, with white noise and/or a fan going.

I hope you're able to get some good sleep soon, OP!

I work overnights... when I get home it can be hard when its so sunny.

My tip is be done with the phone ATLEAST 30 min to 1 hour before sleep time: phone, ipad, computer... let it go. same with TV.

stick to a old fashion book or just sit and relax for the 20 minutes before bed.

I work third shift so getting a good "nights" sleep is always hard for me. Melatonin works wonders and its natural. Turn off your phone, laptop, TV, basically anything with a screen at least 30 minutes before you are ready to go to bed. The blue light in them blocks your melatonin and makes it harder to sleep. FH and I sleep with two fans in our room, one on each side of the bed, and it's almost like white noise. It helps tremendously. I don't recommend working out right before you go to bed but definitely a few hours before hand.

Benadryl for extended periods has been linked to dementia. And I've heard really bad things about melatonin. I use sleep meditations. Specifically the Solfeggio ones by Glen Harold. I zonk right out with them, now sometimes before he starts talking!

I wish I could help, but I don't sleep well at the best of times and can't even take anything for it (leaves me SUPER SLEEPY for the whole next day)

I agree a Tylenol PM will work wonders just take it about an hour before you want to go to bed.

I've been the same way! I bought lavender oil, and put a little of my wrists at night and it knocks me out pretty fast. Smiley smile

I take a Melatonin and read a boring book. I usually will pass out pretty quickly from that. It also helps to NOT look at the time and DONT think that you're never going to fall asleep because then you won't.

Anything lavender (ex. Lavender bubble bath before bed, lavender essential oils, diffuser) helps put me to sleep! Also, melatonin!

Try valerian. It's a sedative herb and also helps with stress.

Meditation and unisom. I work nights so I take unisom to help me sleep during the day-- I've done melatonin, z-quil, benadryl which don't work for me. The meditation will help slow your mind down. If you're looking for a good book I recommend 10% happier by Dan harris.

I'm at 99 days and I've been averaging about 5.5 hours a night. I'm going to try some of these for sure, to stop the never-ending list of issues in my head!
