So my biggest fear is people RSVP and then don't show up and we are stuck paying for a $40 plate of food for each person that didn't show up. Or other fears people may have?

We had two no-shows at 200 dollars a plate. We were already planning on spending it so whatevs (Plus the guy had a kidney infection, totally a legit excuse).

    At least it's only 40 a plate! I wish!

We had 3 no-shows and 1 uninvited guest. Stuff happens. It doesn't even matter. We got married and had a great time. That's all that matters in the end.

Chalk it up to an part of the expense / financial burden of planning a large fancy party.

$40 is pretty cheap. This is not something you should really worry about. It's going to happen. You can't do anything about it.

I'm only joking y'all! Of course I would never do that. Lighten up brides! Haha

I just thought it was funny that he would even say that. Trust me money isn't an issue.

We are just going through our list and eliminating people we don't think will show up and he made this joke.

I'm always one to laugh at things that just don't go as planned, trust me I know things happen and I would never actually charge people. Just making light of stressful times.

I have enough to worry about without trying to predict the future. People have lives and things come up. We are paying $133 per person so of course that could end up being a huge waste of money. There's just nothing you can do though. Consider the money spent and don't worry about it.

I would just add it's only 40$ a plate.. look at some of the prices people listed... if they are not worried you shouldn't be either.

We had a whole table (8 people, 5 adults & 3 kids) walk in, turn around, and leave because they realized our venue had an open bar and it bothered them. At $92pp for adults plus the 3 kids that was a $500 decision. I didn't find out that was the reason why they left until a month later. I was not thrilled, but it happens.

FH and I were at the bank the other day meeting with an FA and she told us that she had 20 people NO SHOW to her wedding. Insane. She said she ended up inviting her hair and makeup team to come since she had so many extra plates.

What I learned while planning a wedding is you gotta expect the unexpected- that was my concern too, but you gotta face the fact that there might people who RSVP who doesn't come and you might have people who didn't rsvp show up so I would suggest giving your budget some wiggle room, that way, whatever happens, you will be good...

@A.L. & @EM it sure was special. I'm glad I didn't ask where they were on the day of because I did notice they were missing & it would've not made for a very happy bride moment.

@Kathryn that's seriously just rude. If you don't like the bar... don't drink how hard is that for people to understand. So sorry that happened to you. :-(
