Usual for weddings is 6-8 weeks before ( time they arrive at guests home.) Which means send from you up to 10 weeks ahead. . . That is the timing used from before the recently invented thing called Save the Date cards. Without sending Saves, you do not send invitations earlier. You simply give people who need more notice, who are definitely invited, early notice of your plans. You tell them, email them, or call them on the phone. You give them the necessary information, then add, actual invitations will be sent out in _____(month). . For emails, it is best to address each to each person, then copy most of same info. This way, it is less likely to be caught in people's spam filter than a large blast. . . Sending invitations earlier won't help. People put them aside, lose them, and are less likely to rsvp. So just give a heads up in a cost effective way, tell them or email, and usual invitation time.
