No RSVP Cards - RSVP via Wedding Website - Is this Possible?

My FH made the suggestion that instead of providing RSVP cards we should have guest RSVP on our wedding website as an effort to trim cost on stationary and postage. Is this possible? Has anyone else done this? If so how did you pull it off and what problems did you run into. Also; we are having an adults only reception, I'm worried that this will cause issues and confuse people. Please provide any advice and info you have regarding RSVP cards and/or weddding website RSVP portals. Thanks WW peeps!

I am considering doing the same thing and got GREAT feedback here and on WeddingBee about it and am pretty much decided to do it. I will also be including a phone reply option. I am getting a google voice number (So I do not have to put my personal phone number in the mail) and letting them leave voicemails with all the information required to RSVP which for us, isn't much...just are you coming? haha

We had everyone RSVP through our wedding website. It worked pretty good if people knew how to enter the website address right - I ended up having to send the specific link to a few people because they couldn't figure it out. My grandma couldn't figure it out but she just called my mom and told her she wouldn't be there so I guess that doesn't really count. And I agree with the others that you will still have to track down RSVP's one way or the other so might as well save the $$$ on RSVP cards.

We did this and it worked out great, there were around 5 people that weren't tech savvy so we RSVP'd for them. Our guests had no issues using the wedding website.

That is exactly what we are doing. We are having people RSVP through our wedding website or for the technologically challenged, they can call my cell to RSVP. But this way is cheaper because you don't have to pay for stamps for them to mail back. In addition to the invitation (I did provide little business sized cards to accompany the invitations. One gave the RSVP info to call my cell or the website number to rsvp. I also stated "remember that this is an adult only event" and that when you rsvp remember to include the total # of people and the name of each person. (This way if they try to sneak in a child I can see). The second card just told about the coctail hour and the reception location). The RSVP via the website actually does work, and I get an email when someone rsvps so that I know.

We did online RSVPs only. Only one guest had trouble with the technology.

My best friend did this for her wedding, and for the most part I think it worked out well. She had a buffet dinner so she didn't need to know meal choices. The only complaint was from some of her elderly relatives that didn't really use the internet, so I think they just got help RSVP'ing. Best of luck to you!

You know your guests, and how tech savvy they might be. some of my older guests were very confused, so I ended up making my own RSVP cards. it's totally possible though. I had some people RSVP through the wedding website and it worked out well.

I did RSVPs through my weddingwire website, and I loved it! It was so much easier to keep track of than little cards- especially since the mail in my area is crappy, and I bet some would have gotten lost. I also included my phone number for people who were not internet savvy, and I think I got a total of about 5 phone calls, which made it easy for me to just RSVP for them. In addition, I only got a 40% RSVP rate as of the RSVP date, but I honestly think it would have been a lower percentage if it had been cards, since most people, when I called them, said they had forgotten. We also were able to just send a facebook message to our friends, reminding them, and that took care of most of the friends. So, not only did I avoid buying about 100 stamps that didn't get used (we invited about 220 people), but I didn't spend money on stamps or insert cards at all- my invites were very streamlined. Also, most people said that was much easier than trying to find one of those silly blue boxes...

We set up a Google+ phone number and e-mail specifically for the wedding and had our guests RSVP that way.
