No rose petals for my flower girl!

marriedlady, on June 15, 2012 at 11:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 30

My church is not allowing my flower girl to throw rose petals down the aisle. She says there are liability issues. I was thnking of having her give roses to random people as she walks down the aisle? Does anybody else have suggestions?

    Those are excellent ideas.

My church mentioned not wanting rice being thrown at the end of the ceremony, they suggested bubbles instead.

I will definitely ask about the flowers next time I meet with the Priest Smiley smile

Ooo I love the pomander idea. Depending on how old the flower girl is, she might get scared if she has to give roses to people as she walks down the aisle.

Our church doesn't allow petals either. Our priest said it's because they get squished into the carpet under people's feet and is really difficult to clean.

@ Soon To Be Mrs. C! - No, we can't put anything down, no runner or petals. =(

@ That One Chick - I love that idea. The wand idea is super cute, and that pomador is a great idea!!

@ FallBride - Yes, that's what they told me too. I can have bubbles at the end.

@ Kimber M. - Thanks for that explanation, that does make sense!

I've seen the pomander ideas but personally, I'm just doing a flower basket. But instead of petals, it will just be full of flowers, set in there so my flower girl wont be tempted to pull the flowers out.

Hmmm are we getting married at the same church lol ... Mine also doesn't allow an aisle runner, petals or rice being thrown!! So our flower girls will have pomander balls and we are doing ribbon wands for our exit Smiley smile

So where does one get ribbon wands, and how exactly does that work? so she doesn't wave them going into the church, but she will leave early to wave it at the exit?

Yeah, I can't have rice either...they suggested bubbles.

    Is confetti allowed?

What if you took an old book and a heart shaped hole puncher and made heart shaped confetti for your flower girl to throw... then it's just a matter of sweeping them up but they couldn't be squished into the carpet.

@ soon to be Mrs. Smith: I love those signs...super cute!

@ Fawn A - No, we can't have confetti. I don't think they want to clean anything up. But that is a great idea.

Ribbon wands can be made or purchased from Etsy!! The ribbon wands for the exit are for all of your guests to take one as they come in and then wave them when you walk out of the chuch (instead of throwing rice or blowing bubbles)!!

@ Ashley S. - Ohhhh. I love that idea. And I've never actually seen it before. Does it work? Will people know what to do? Have you seen it in a wedding?
