No room in budget for Doc?!

Amanda, on October 30, 2019 at 7:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
So, I won't have room in my budget for a DOC... Any suggestions for how to handle it on my own? What do I need pre-planned so I'm not panicked on the day of?

Check out Jamie Wolfer on YouTube!!! She is a professional wedding planner that has been so helpful for me, but she also has an online "course" designed to be your "online DOC" if you're interested! She has a LOT to say about wedding planners and how to do your own!

Sorry for double posting but the main thing overall is that even if you don't have a DOC, you should have /someone/ there (who is outside of the bridal party) that can act as your "point person" and keep your timeline, talk to vendors and guests, fix problems that arise, etc.

Lots of weddings happen without a DOC.

assign a point person, friend, aunt, cousin to handle problems and oversee set up.

I think I will have to do this. I do have someone who is a very "take charge" type, who will definitely honor my wishes in everything. I wanted her to be able to just sit and enjoy the wedding, but I think I will ask her. Thank you! I thought I could handle it, but there's so just SO much lol. And EVERYTHING is so expensive.

Omg LOVE HER I binge watched all her videos when I realized that the YouTube wedding planning community is basically zero (unless you count big you tube people who post their own wedding videos).

Exactly what I was going to say! I did it for a friend's sister and it was such a relief for her to have someone to check up on things and make sure everything was set up how she wanted it.

I would see if there's a friend of the family (not a family friend that's invited to the wedding) that would be interested in doing this for you for a couple hundred! Had we not found our lovely DOC at such a great price, I was going to hire my brother-in-law's niece to be our DOC Smiley smile

Do you have a DJ? A DOC wasn't in our budget either, so I had a couple friends and family members that knew the timeline which helped, but the biggest thing was our DJ. He pretty much acted as our DOC and said that is usually part of his job. He was awesome!

If you've people who are willing to help, they can be assigned duties

I do! He said he'd help, but I wasn't sure how much help he could actually be. This makes me feel much better!!
