Unpopular opinion, but what if I cancel the reception and just have the ceremony. 1. I am allowed to be selfish and have my wedding the way that best suits my finances 2. I can save and have an expensive honeymoon instead 3. Who said the guests are actually going to end up being respectful and bring...

Why would I want a reception when I have anxiety around people, can’t get drunk (bc people find it improper), and have to pay for everyone else to party on my dime when I can’t

Not sure what your point is. The OP was about inviting people to a ceremony but not any kind of reception. Once you invite guests to a ceremony, you have an obligation to have some way to acknowledge the effort they made to attend. It can be small, or low budget, but if the plan is to send people who've made an effort to attend your wedding home after a 20 minute ceremony then the only appropriate alternative is to elope. That gives the benefit of all the time and money you choose.

Yes, it is selfish to expect people to attend your wedding but not provide even minimal food and drink. If you really can’t handle the stress or finances of a reception, then you elope. But if you want people to go to the time and effort of coming to your wedding (presumably giving gifts), then you owe them hosting.
