No makeup - crazy???

I very rarely wear makeup unless I am doing a show (community theatre). If I do, it's usually a dab of concealer, some foundation powder, and a sweep of blush across my cheeks, and same color/same brush swept across my eyelids. All total, I spend maybe 5 minutes on my makeup. If it's a special...

If it's a special occasion, I may do a bit more in the way of eyeshadow and mascara, but still not a lot. My fiancé prefers my un-made up face. My sis came over the other night so we could practice wedding makeup. She spent about 70 minutes. She worked really hard, and I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I didn't care for it. I want to feel like myself, and I want my soon to be husband to like it. He hates when girls "cake on a new face." My only concern besides hurting my sister's feelings is the pictures. I worry if I do my normal powder and eye makeup routine I will look washed out. Anyone skipping makeup entirely, or doing very little?

This is definitely a "you do you" area. And while personally I chose to have makeup done I second others saying that if a groom isn't "washed out" why would you be? With that being said, I think a good in between (that is if you want it) is airbrush. That's what I had done and I was thrilled when the pictures came back and my light freckles were still showing. It can be pretty light coverage if that's what you prefer

Regarding the whole "why don't men wear makeup then" thing, men who are actors, newscasters, models, etc do wear makeup, for the exact same reason people suggest women wear it for their wedding.

Men also tend to have more defined features than women on average, so their features don't need as much definition from makeup.

Honestly men would look better in professional pictures with makeup too, but #masculinitysofragile no one suggests it to them.

If you're wearing white dress, you're likely going to look washed out due to flash back. Men don't have this problem unless they are in a white/light colored suit. That being said, I've seen beautiful brides without a stitch of makeup. Their photos came out quite well with a professional photographer behind the lens.

Or maybe men don't feel the need to cover up their faces. Because any guy I know would say "What's wrong with my face?" if you told them to put on makeup...

We're talking about weddings, not celebrities. You don't tell the groom to wear makeup so stop saying the bride will look horrible if she doesn't.

Do trial run with a MUA and share your concerns. A good one will make you feel comfortable and look good in pictures.

I never wear make up, regardless of the occasion. I will be getting my make up professionally done for the wedding.

I'm paying a good chunk of change for my photography on my wedding day, so I want to put my best self forward. That best self is achieved by enhancing my features with a great make up artist.

Besides looking orange with makeup on and not having his hair done without makeup on, Carson looks exactly the same but that's just my opinion lol...

I say do what makes you feel most beautiful but mascara and a bold lip would look lovely.

I would look into makeup. Invest in a good foundation, fill in your eyebrows and wear a natural looking pair of false lashes. You definitely need some bronzer and blush to bring color back in, but you don't need heavy eyeliner and things like that.

    Where are you located?

Can you post a picture of what look you normally wear? Even if it's not much at all.

Nobody is saying she would look horrible.

But with the assumption she is wearing white and she said she has fair skin, it WILL wash her out more than a groom wearing a darker suit.

PPs are trying to help so she is completely satisfied with her photos.

Ugh. Why. why are people so hostile about this.

BeachDreams- Every make up thread I've ever gone into that it's been asked- I answer that question.

So- you're wrong- it DOES get answered.

Fairest- were you an athlete in HS or College?

Because those are some big old fucking leaps you made there.

To answer the questions that NEVER get answered:

1.) Absolutely no one said a bride would look horrible- but she's not going to look her best.

2.) the groom SHOULD wear make up- but try convincing a guy NOT in theatre/stage/professional acting/modelling ANYTHING to get even POWDER done.

3.) Men as a general trendline have sharper features- women tend to have softer features. A softer line- gets lost faster.

4.) women typically wear lighter colors- men wear darker colors. So there is already some contrast.

I've seen nice pictures of no make up brides. But I've never seen stunning pictures of none make up brides. not once. Recently someone did a pro shot of them "no make up"- about 20 people liked the picture-which hurt my soul. Like whose going to come in there and say she doesn't look good- why piss on the girls parade? but she legit looked ill.

Absolutely NO SANE PERSON is going to tell you that you don't look good on your wedding day- even if you fucking look like shit- they are going to lie to you. Flat out.

You have time now- where people will tell you NOW in advance where you KNOW they aren't lying to you.

Get the make up done- you should feel ridiculous looking at yourself in your bathroom. If you're doing E pix- get it done- go heavy handed- see what your photographer does with it. I bet you'll be surprised.

I can promise you more people wished they had done *more* than people who had said *less is good*

Also holy fuck someone needs to fix that man's foundation- that shit oxidized like a mo fo on him. woof.

Obviously this post if from a while ago and I'm sure you're married already, but... I am getting married in a few months and I won't be wearing any makeup at all... I'm just worried I'll look too plain but makeup isn't who I am, I never wear it.. ever. I don't want to change who I am to get married, he is marrying me for me not someone who I'm not, ya know. Did you wear makeup on your big day?

Most men don’t look washed out in wedding photos pp, even though they tend not to wear makeup.

Completely agree with you- don’t understand all these people who sound like they’re forcing the OP to wear makeup.
