No honeymoon?

My FH and I still haven't decided on going on a honeymoon or not. It's very expensive and I don't really enjoy traveling very much. How did you decide where you wanted to go and how much did it actually cost? If we do go on a honeymoon, I want to save as much as possible! Thanks!

We felt the same way we wanted to do something but we didn't wanna spend a ton of money. So he actually came up with the idea of going back to where we had our first vacation together... Our first vacation was very low key, chill, super on budget but we had an amazing time. It was just us and we got exactly what we needed some one on one time with each other... .

Do a staycation! Take a week off. Treat yourselves to a spa day, an adventure day, explore your local attractions that you always wanted to, go to a fancy dinner or two, etc.

We LOVE travel, so it was a must for us. And we've both always wanted to go to Ireland. It was an easy decision. We're also spending way too much on the trip, because we want it to be memorable and nice. Probably around $6k altogether. If we weren't into travelling, I'd still want to at least get a nice hotel room for two nights and have a bit of a retreat with just the two of us. Or a cabin somewhere pretty.

We decided to go to Hawaii as cheap as possible. Per chance we just happen to be getting married in Hawaii's off season so our roundtrip flights were $825 per person. We've rented an AirBnB in Maui (oceanfront!) for $1,350 for 8 nights! It's such a long flight for us (we're on the east coast) that we figured this is going to be a once in a lifetime trip for us.

Our first ever conversation was about Disney World. We went to Disney World earlier this year. And someone was very mad when someone didnt propose at Disney World. So we started planning a Disney Cruise and trip to Disney World and called it our honeymoon before we ever even got engaged.

So our wedding cost more than we thought so we decided since our wedding is destination we are just taking our time coming home (an extra few days) and driving through different states and staying in hotels and then that week we will go to volcano bay in Orlando (we live two hours south). That will be our "honeymoon" we plan on doing a cruise in like a year once we recoup some of our money from the wedding! haha

We are going to the Faroe Islands. It is 2 hours by plane from where we live. The Islands are quite expensive because they rely a lot on tourism and jack the prices up as a result.. but getting married is free and we are just paying for the apartment, food and leisure related expenses. Kind of like a vacation Smiley smile

Have you finalized the other aspects of your wedding? Maybe a desination wedding would allow you to have a honeymoon and also get married at the time. Traveling can be expensive but there are a lot of ways to save. Renting apartments through Airbnb or locally cuts costs significantly. Unless you want to be pampered, having an apartment allows you to cook yourselves which can save more money. If your date is far away and you decide on traveling on a plane, you can save by buying the tickets in advance.

You also don't have to go far away. As others have mentioned, even just having some days to yourself an hour away or in a quiet place can be just as fun.

We enjoy travelling but don't want to spend a fortune so we decided on a stay cation!
We'd rent a little cabin somewhere or get a nice hotel for about a week amd just visit attractions around that aren't far from anything. We're both pretty laid back people so a cabin and a few amusement parks was absolutely perfect

We aren't going an actual honeymoon. We are just going to have a weekend away at a little town that we love.

We are not doing a honeymoon until our one year anniversary, these days a wedding itself is expensive. With a year to save you can choose a really nice location.

Wow! The Ireland quotes I'm getting right now are at least $2400 for air and hotel. How are you doing the trip?

I'm always checking different airlines and their sales that they're having. My fiance already had a ton of miles saved so when I decided to check Ireland with what he had for miles it came out to be less than $450 each! We definitely lucked out on that. As far as hotels go, we decided to go through Airbnb because you can rent whole apartments or homes for not very much money. We got this adorable little cottage on the coast and it had rave reviews for only $120 a night (not including taxes and cleaning fees...about $150 a night total).

We did not go on a honeymoon at all. We planned a weekend trip to an amusement park and had a blast celebrating us! Yes, it cost for the tickets (under $75) and the gas to get there but we are lucky enough to live close by that we came home to sleep in our own bed! Saved tons by just doing what we wanted and not what is traditionally considered a honeymoon! Find what you both enjoy and take time to do it!

I don't blame you for feeling this way. As much as I enjoy the idea of traveling, the actual act of it is very cumbersome for my body and mind, especially after my last travel fiasco. My FH would love to go on a Scandinavian tour, to Finland, Norway, Sweden and even Denmark. I would not mind going back to Iceland, where we got engaged. However, due to the fact that we will be moving half country away, shortly after the wedding, and would love to be able to purchase a house not long thereafter, we more than likely will not be going on a honeymoon.

We are doing a honeyfund registry so instead of gifts my FH and I will hopefully have most of our honeymoon taken care of. Helps with the saving up factor.

we are going to New Zealand! Very excited.

your honeymoon doesn’t have to be a huge thing. Look up fun air bnbs and see if any catch your eye.

My FH loves to travel but me, not so much so we decided since our wedding is during fall break the kids would stay with family and we was just going to a close beach. It's not so much as the where or what it's more about the quality time together as a newly married couple! Even if you don't do a honeymoon, a nice breakfast or dinner with each other that week is still just as magical!

I am really into traveling and was soooo excited when FH and I were talking about a Hawaii honeymoon....... but then we looked at our current life and realized that we REALLY need better cars ASAP.... more than the honeymoon, as much as we could honestly use a break. He's mentioned to me that after we get the cars straightened out, we will start saving for either honeymoon or family vacation. I think we're torn because we both really want a legit honeymoon, but we also REALLY want to take our toddler to Disney, and I remember my mom traveling when I was that little..... I don't want to put her through that. So. We might end up "honeymooning" in Disney like 6-12 months after the wedding, and bringing our nanny or something so we can get some alone time once in a while. Smiley tongue

My fiance will be starting a new job right before so we probably won't have one, or the money. We might go somewhere the following year or for our first anniversary. We're not big into travel so we might just go somewhere local and treat ourselves to a nice hotel
