No hair/makeup trial?

Amber, on May 22, 2014 at 10:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Did any of you girls not have a trial and just trust that your hair and makeup would look great?

I researched and found some great women to do my hair and makeup ( they had excellent reviews) However, I like in Atlanta and my wedding is in Florida- kind of hard to get a makeup/hair trial done.

I'm doing my own hair, as it's short so I only need a few curls. I haven't had a makeup trial, I'm just going to trust her and hope for the best. Worst case scenario, I'm washing it off and starting over!

I probably won't have either. If I hate it, I'll just have em start over, and that's it.

We didn't have hair/make-up trials for the person who handled our hair and make-up for the ceremony, for the exact same reason. Everything turned out fine.

I'm going to hand the lady a photo and cross my fingers. Maybe I'll try styling my own hair and have my sister help before the real thing.

My daughter is doing my makeup. We will play with my makeup a few weeks before the big day.

I'm a bad visualizer, so I definitely had to do my hair and MU trials. Also, I didn't have an exact vision of what I wanted, more of a collection of Pinterest pictures *lol* So I showed both of my ladies my collection of ideas and they were able to smoosh them together for the finished look.

I had trials, but the cost is credited toward my wedding day services. It wasn't really necessary through and I knew I loved their work from the portfolios I had seen. I was able to make changes to my make up as we went and my hair was perfect on the first try and she could have easily made changes if necessary. I would just allow a bit of extra time the day of in case any changes are needed.

Did it for my practice wedding, but I had a great, trustworthy hairdresser. This time, I had a make up trial already, with my MUA, but she's my true friend and will do anything for me. Can't wait to have the hair trial.

I understand why you are not doing them but be sure to have plenty of time for any needed changes. That is the benefit of doing trials so it can just go smoothly the day of without the fear of not liking it. Good luck!

I'm going to try to do a hair and make up trial.... But I trust and love my hairdresser and is the only one thats allowed to touch my hair and the makeup lady is the one she uses in her shop and I've seen and love her work!

I have done makeup for so many brides whom I never even got to meet until the day of their wedding. With Florida being a big wedding destination location, it happens quite often.

Just be sure to research the stylists and artists for one you are comfortable with. Check out their portfolio to be sure the images match what you are looking for in the terms of makeup style and look.

Once you find the vendors you like, send them images of makeup looks you want. I always like when brides send me photos for inspiration because one person's vision of a smokey eye could be completely different than another person's idea.

I have brides who have sent me photos of their gowns, bridesmaids dresses, wedding colors, etc. It all helps me get a better understanding of what they are looking for.

I know it's tough to put your trust in a vendor from a different location, but keep communication open and you'll be just as gorgeous as always!!

    Best wishes!

I'm having my trials the week of the wedding. The girls doing our hair and make up are the sisters of one of my bridesmaids so they are coming in a week before to do trials for me.

We are getting married in Minnesota and we live in Ohio...that being said I did get trials done. Hair is a big thing for me and we tried 3 different styles before I found what I liked. Having my FH be a commercial airline pilot really has perks when planning a wedding from a distance. Yay for free flight benefits.

I had both hair and makeup trials done to see how long everything would take. Although both turned out fine I found a few minor things I wanted changed that , had I not done the trial first , there is no way in hell there would be time to change the day of
