No flower girl...who scatters flowers?

Sophie, on December 5, 2019 at 11:23 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 26

We are not having a flower girl, so I was thinking our DOC would just scatter the flowers before I walk down the aisle. Would that be weird? Should I have someone else do it instead? Thanks!

Coming from a person who lives on the edge, I would say are flowers an absolute must?

It definitely wouldn’t be weird in my opinion!
But if you think it is weird, you don’t have to do flowers at all!

Our florist did a line of rose petals on either side of the aisle and then scattered petals up the aisle. I'd ask your florist if what you want is something they can accommodate

Side note - she put ribbon between the two aisle seats in the back row to encourage people to seat from the sides.

Petals already being sprinkled on the aisle is common.

Your DOC or your florist should already have that taken care of before your ceremony begins.

We don't have flower girls either so our florist is doing it for us when shes setting up!

If you want to have your DOC do it, I would have it done before the ceremony and block the aisle entrances to your seating so that guests don't walk all over them before the ceremony even begins.

We didn't have a flower girl so we didn't have flowers scattered. I don't feel that it is necessary. If you want flower petals on the ground as part of your decor, I would have it done beforehand by whoever is decorating your ceremony space and block the aisle so guests can not walk on them.

That sounds fine for your DOC to do it beforehand!

Echoing everyone else here, it's totally doable - an alternative is that you have "ushers" or other greeters kindly request your guests enter from the sides so as to not step on the petals. That way you don't have to worry about a physical rope blocking off the aisle. Went to a wedding this summer that did it that way and it was executed flawlessly!

Maybe not...I hadn't thought about it as a possibility not to have them, but I do think I like the idea of them!

Got it. So all the bridesmaids/people in the processional will walk on them before I do - is that normal? Do you think the flowers will still look ok?

Thanks for the tip. Now I'm starting to debate about having flowers at all, but since we're doing the ceremony in the backyard I want to have enough things to make it look "wedding-y". I'll definitely think about it - thanks!
