No Dancing Policy? (new york Brides)

Michelle, on August 20, 2020 at 8:12 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 4

My venue just informed me that we cant have a dance floor (which we already paid for from a rental company) We understand there is no dancing allowed but we thought we would be able to have our first dance along with my father/daughter groom/mother dances. I just don't understand the point of this, the dance floor is more for decorative purpose so the room looks put together! Doesn't make sense. Anyone else having this issue?

Sorry that’s happening so close to your wedding. But yes, there was another post I saw today from a New York bride regarding the same topic.

I'm so sorry! I would talk to the company about getting your money back. I have seen other brides post that no dancing is allowed.

I'm so sorry to hear that Michelle! I'd triple-check with your venue that it's not allowed even if it's solely for decorative purposes, but be understanding if it's a hard no. From the other side I can understand that having a dance floor could encourage guests to dance even if it's not allowed, and that wedding vendors aren't pumped about have to police guests at events.

Here are two similar discussions going on right now you should jump into as well so you all can exchange ideas: No dancing at wedding?! and Making the reception last longer.
