No ceremony but want bridesmaid & groomsmen

Alec, on January 13, 2020 at 8:28 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
I’m not having a ceremony just basically a cocktail hour and a reception. I still want bridesmaids and my fiancé wants groomsmen. Can someone shoot some ideas on how we can make that happen or incorporate them?
Thank you!

You could ask your closest friends to get ready with you and/or sit with you at the reception, but I wouldn't ask someone to be in the bridal party if you're not having a ceremony. The purpose of the bridal party is for your nearest and dearest to stand next to you and support you at the ceremony.

I agree with PP. You could also have them do a toast at the cocktail hour or reception and pose for some pictures. If you go to a wedding with a ceremony, the BP doesn't really do anything during the reception part. Would you make them buy a dress/rent a tux? I would say involve them in your day, but let them wear what they'd like.

Why not have a head table set up, so you can all sit together. Would also make speeches a lot easier since you all will be next to each other.
