newspaper engagement announcements

Kim, on July 3, 2015 at 3:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Hello, this is my first post here, I'm the mother of the bride. I want to post an engagement announcement in the newspaper for my daughter and her fiance. I need some advice on the wording. Her dad and I are both divorced and remarried. All the examples online are "Mr. and Mrs. Smith of anytown and Mr. and Mrs. Jones of othertown announce the engagement of their daughter" I would prefer to use our first names instead of Mr and Mrs. "Jack and Jane Smith of anytown and Joe and Kathy of othertown announce the engagement of their daughter" Is this acceptable? Thanks.

I think that's fine. Or you could separate out the names "Mr. Jack Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith"...

My parents are divorced, but my mother still has her married name. We just did Mr. and Ms., to avoid redundancy. At our wedding they will announced the same way, "Mr. and Ms." as I don't want them announced separately (and they don't care either way).
