Are these still a thing? We got engaged in my hometown with my parents (so cool) but I live in a different state-where my FH is from. My mom wants to make an engagement announcement in the local paper where I grew up, but also for the local paper where we live now. I think my mom is sad that she does not get to be more involved, but when I asked my FMIL about it she said that she doesn't think people do that anymore. Did you do this? Have you seen this done recently?

    We did an engagement announcement, absolutely! We'll do a detailed wedding one too because in the South, you just do. Or I do... if it's traditional and has a classic touch, I'm all for it!
