Newly engaged Wedding 8/16/20, also my 35th bday?!!

Erika, on September 2, 2019 at 11:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hello fellow brides! Soo before meeting my fiance,I was single x7 years. I wouldn't have imagined that I would be planning a wedding let alone 1 year from my engagment which happens to be my 35th bday. I am still soaking it in but I feel like I am consumed with planning. I get overwhelmed at times but I have a great support system! We are paying out of pocket and our budget is 16k, give a few. We have a venue that is phenomenal.

I know I am not alone....please tell me these jitters will get better! What are some of your self care secrets for wedding planning stress?

Congrats!! The venue is beautiful! I try to take
3 days of a week from planning or talking anything wedding and let friends and family
know my break days so they don’t bug me

I like to have a spreadsheet to write everything down, what it costs, what we have paid and what’s left to pay. This way it is off my mind Smiley smile. Also, I take breaks, one week in and one week off wedding planning so I can enjoy this time without stress. The venue is the main thing, everything else will fall into place. Good luck everything will turn out great!

I agree with spreadsheet or planner with receipts and write down cost of things.

I make calendar events and reminders to pay vendors.

I also don't let wedding planning consume me and I have a large bridal party whom was dying to help so I delegated something to all of them to keep me on track with. They are very good with checking in and holding me to deadlines.

We are just taking things one day at a time. We really and truly have been each others rocks to get us here to the little over a week mark. The gitters dont really get better, they just are different I'd say. At least that's my experience

This is great. He is definitely involved but he has no idea the plight I am dealing with on my end. I will definitely keep him abreast.

Be as organized as you can, and set deadlines. Do 1 thing at a time. For example, for the next 2 months (or whatever) focus on only the venue. Work on it a couple nights a week for 1 hour at a time, schedule tours, etc. Then when that's done, focus on catering (for example). Don't try to do 6 vendors at once and overwhelm yourself. Take 1 night a week for self care relaxing (whether that's date nights, spa days, etc.) and don't focus on wedding planning.

A big one for us is taking a date night where we talk about anything and everything BUT planning. It's just a date night for us to relax and unwind. We shoot for every other week.

Your venue is beautiful! I just scheduled a facial and a massage to pamper myself this week before I meet with photographers/videographers and florists.
