New York Honeymoon Suggestions

Keiley, on June 12, 2019 at 7:30 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 11

We are planning a honeymoon to New York City for the first week of October this year. Any suggestions on things to do or places to eat? We have the typical tourist outline for an itinerary so far, but would love some suggestions!

Any good tips on places to stay, too? We want to be in a central location and are okay spending a little bit more. We don't want to break the bank, but we want to treat ourselves for this trip Smiley smile

Yay! Im from New York originally and my family still lives there. OF COURSE you need to do the NYC tourist stuff, but then Id suggest going on groupon and seeing what you can get show wise, even a winery on Long Island, which is a train ride from NYC. Believe it or not, the Bronx has a lot to offer. Go to Arthur Ave, different and more authentic than Little Italy, two totally different experiences, but fun. The Botanical Gardens and lunch on Arthur Ave is amazing!!! Have fun! xo

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Keiley!

I love love looove New York! Amazing honeymoon destination Smiley smile

There is a place beside Grand Central called ‘Urban Space’ you should check out if you’re out and about one day and looking for some casual food. It’s a food hall with 20+ popular counter serve easteries. There is Roberta's Pizza (you don’t have to go the whole way to Brooklyn to experience!), Dough (the most delicious doughnuts!), along with lots more!

For more sit down dinner options, there is a street in the financial district called ‘Stone Street’ which has a ton of bars and restaurants! The street has lots of old-world charm so definitely worth checking out!

Accommodation wise, I would definitely recommend you check out Bookings.com, Trivago.com and similar website as they often have rooms at the best prices!

Do you plan on going to see a show while you’re there? I love broadway Smiley smile

We are doing the same thing. We want to see The New York City ballet and where my wedding rings came from. Congrats.

I stayed in the Westin New York Gran Central. Is 2 blocks away from Grand Central Station and about 7 blocks from Time Square. Hotel is beautiful and so clean. Also stayed at the Lotte New York Palace and wow, beautiful. Just a block from Rockefeller Center and 5th Avenue and 2 blocks from time square. Both highly recommended. Anything in New York is close to train and bus stations. Of course Westin being close to Gran Central has more options.
As far as places to go you can find what you like better on the internet but I highly enjoyed the public library. Just the look and smell of it was spectacular. The restaurant in Bryant park was delicious and just to sit there and enjoy a lunch with the view. That’s probably out of the norm for tourist things but recommend.
For observatories I say do the all! Top of the rock in Rockefeller and Empire. My tip is to do top of the rock in the morning and empire at sunset time. If you do top of the rock at night the flash of pictures would rebound on the glass. For empire go close to sunset so you see the sunset from up there. Make sure you stay until is dark so you see the night lights of the city. Is breathtaking!
For restaurant I recommend Nurs-Et. Is pricey but delicious, mostly steak. I personally haven’t being to the one in New York I have done the one in Miami and I had an amazing experience and is by the same owner.

We are honeymoonin' in NYC too! We are spending a few days at Niagra Falls first then flying to NYC. We are also going all our tourist since neither of us have been to either place. Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, 9/11 Memorial, show on Broadway etc. Empire offers day and night ticket options so you can see both views. Check out the City Pass for NYC. Huge money saver on some of the biggest tourist spots.

Mmmm Dough Donuts, I second that. I'm a New York native, born and raised Brooklyn girl over here. I would recommend checking out the highline and the hudson yards. Definitely try and get tickets early for the Vessel! It's a really cool structure and you can get some awesome photographs.

If you are feeling adventurous Brooklyn has a lot to offer as well. I'd recommend checking out Di Fara pizza

We stayed at the Hilton near Radio City Music Hall when I was in town for the Thanksgiving Parade. Super clean. I dont think it was terribly pricey, but we may have gotten a group discount due to being a huge dance team/connected to the parade.
I'd absolutely recommend seeing a show when you're in town. We saw a play I had no interest in and it ignited a love for theater I didnt know I had. We also saw the Rockettes. But I'm not sure how often they perform.

Lilia in Williamsburg for the best pasta. Best advice, do not forget Brooklyn. I've met countless people that only came over for a single day and regretted not spending more time in Brooklyn.

Ace Hotel in Manhattan is where I always stayed before moving here. Great vibe, Blue Bottle Coffee downstairs, centrally located.

Other Suggestions: The Ragtrader & Bo Peep Cocktail & Hightball Store, Thai Villa, Jack's Wife Freda, Taco Mahal(great spot to grab quick bite while checking out West Village).
